Is there a good way for family to enter into a business partnership in the cattle industry? After my dad retired from the cattle business, he rented all the grass to a neighbor on a year by year lease. Since he is no longer with us, my mom made the comment she wished she had some more of her own cattle back on the farm. Obviously she is almost to the age she would need all kinds of help other than keeping the water tanks full. If she supplies the grass would she also need to supply some of the cattle if I supply all the labor throughout the year? I would imagine we would split the feed on a 50-50 percentage. I don't really like partnerships, but my mom is notorious for putting everything down to the finest detail on paper and either getting it notarized or approved by an attorney.
