I haven't worked in the custom application business for twenty years now. Back then we didn't do grid soil sampling, tissue sampling, few farmers sidedressed, no one did nitrogen app at tassel, we didn't have in furrow starter and the average farm was about half the size it is now. Seems like a lot of smaller coops and seed and fertilizer dealers have gone out of business meaning fewer agronomist. I would say agronomist use technology to handle the added data. Which may alow them to cover more acres and help farmers make more decisions in the same amount of time.
