Re: Social Media Account

Agree with many existing posts on here - just saw this conversation. I wanted to add, as a resource, the AgChat Foundation for those interested in learning to use more effectively the free tools many of us are already using personally. Full disclosure - I'm on the board of directors.

There is a weekly regular Twitter chat on Tuesdays from 7-9 CST at #agchat and pretty much ongoing conversation there. Topics vary - includes large farms, small, conventional, organic, specialty growers - good diversity. They're also on Facebook, and there's a blog on the AgChat Foundation website. There's also a national level converence, this is the 4th year for it.

I think it's invaluable for those direct selling but also for everyone who farms. The conversation is happening, whether we're there or not. There are people educating others on things like GMO popcorn, that all corn is the same (yes field corn, sweet corn, popcorn etc all the same)...just a few tings.

I've also watched conversations, done right, turn activist into farm supporter. These people use our products and more importantly vote. While we might laught at their wrong information, they believe it and guaranteed there aren't critics going to correct it! People seek information where they are, and that includes on social media. Important tip - engage and talk not just educating. We all depend on it. :-)
