New story on Agriculture.com today (click here) reports that Iowa land values rose 19.7% from September to March and are up 25.4% for the year. "High quality land is now worth $7,389 an acre statewide, with values passing $8,000 an acre in west central and northwest Iowa," the story says.
These are the highest increases in the survey's history. Most of the land is going to farmers, many deals on a cash basis.
Another recent story here reported that Nebraska land values were up 22% for the year.
The experts see financial risk levels rising in this whole scenario, of course. What will take the top off these prices first, one wonders. Thoughts?
