Farming The CRP

Here is a good article on the current state of CRP enrollment.  It's pretty popular right now because landlords can get more income from CRP and don't have to put up with whiny tenants who are going broke at high land rents.

Where are you with CRP?  Are you putting any land in?  Taking any out?  Being prevented from re-signup?

“Over the years, the CRP has shown to be an effective way of providing an economic safety net for farmers and also a good way to preserve America’s landscape,” says Dolcini.

What is meant by the above statement?  Is a person who puts land in CRP really a farmer?  Sounds more like an investor or landlord than a farmer to me.

Well, I don't have a dog in the fight as I have no CRP ground and am not interested in any.
