Insurance Cuts Hit Most KS and IA Farmers

From the Kansas State site:

"The Proposed Crop Insurance Budget Cuts Will Impact over 90% of Iowa and Kansas Crop Farmers
A question from a Kansas farmer prompts the following response:
The proposed crop insurance budget cuts include more than just the $40,000 limit on premium subsidies. These cuts will include an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of less than $500,000 ($250,000 AGI in alternative proposal) for participation eligibility and the elimination of Harvest Price Option (HPO) for all farmers, regardless of size. If these cuts become law, it will reduce crop insurance protection for nearly 95% of Iowa's crop farmers. The loss of the HPO will affect about 80% to 90% of the crop acres in many other states, including Kansas. So it is unfair to argue these proposed budget cuts will only affect large farmers because the HPO cut affects the coverage for all farmers, regardless of size."
