More disasters or more reporting?

Do you think we are having more natural disasters or are we simply getting more reporting, and more sensational reporting, of them? I don't mean the nuclear problem, I mean the floods, tornadoes, etc.
Are you donig anything to be better prepared or better able to cope, or do you think it i is the governments job? Or do yo uthink the gtovernment is taking over where it isn't needed?
