Re: Saturday mail

Not to say USPS shouldn't modernize...but, it is not right to  give an organization that much of an overwhelming advantage.  If others carriers have to pay taxes on their income, and the postal service does not, how is that equitable to the private entities?

Either we need and want certain public services to fulfill their role, regardless of expense, or at least enough to pay what it costs to carry it forward at what it really costs to provide it.  I would pay a dollar for a stamp, if that is what my 5-10 letters a month require to get to  their destinations.

This is one thing that everyone truly has to suffer through equally...no cut rates for entitled persons, unless you consider the franking privileges of the Congress.  this whole situation reminds me of how the school board threatens to cut athletics every year, to wangle more money out of the county supervisors.

Some politicians are already circling the wagons to save Saturday service.  I think it is serving as a distraction to far more disturbing news that came out today.
