Farming is in a different scenario than it was in 1996, those that are now big and "successful" didn`t get there by relinquishing ownership of their grain, putting themselves in "checkmate" at the mercy of a enduser.  Since `96, e-plants, feedmills, beanmeal plants and the river are part of a niche market.

 

Cargill pro-pricing  and on the "other site" they talk about the experts at Gavilon handled the marketing of their 2017 bean crop and they`re getting less than $7.   I think as much as farmers hate marketing, they know it`s something too important to completely turn over to someone else.   Of course another year or 2 of these prices, we might be surprised what some farmers will agree to.
