We used to use FM radios, but with the new regulations and licensing we are researching our options.  CB's are out since there is a lot of 'land skip' (I think thats the term) where two CB's near each other can't hear each other because the signal gets bounced away.  (but then you might hear someone hundreds of miles away)  Cell phones are cumbersome to use, at least in this area coverage isn't great.  Most of my co-workers are text-illeterate.  We are thinking smoke signals??  We are looking at our options.
