Why does there have to be demand destruction when production is short? If we dont have enuf corn or beans for domestic use why dont we import them so the livestock industry doesnt have such up and downs in their price? After all the world impOrts our commodities when we have too much why not turn it around?

Riddle me this again......we reward failure and punish sucess all in the name of food production......

Bigest reason I can think of is that world stocks of grain are very low and it really isn't economically feasible to import meaningful quantities of grain.  That is just a guess.
