thread below says that corn isn't going to go to $10....hmm....someone do the math for me and tell me what $4 corn in 1972 is in 2013 dollars, and also what $13 soybeans are.
I know that I watched my 1200 lb round bales go from $40 to $60 to $80 to $100 to $120 since summer and they are all gone now. Not going to make the same mistake with my corn.

Red, ------cx-1 may have a point,------------- didn't the percieved windfall of the 70's create the 80's when the sellers went bankrupt trying to pay for that land and equipment they bought in the 70's.
The inflated expenses never go away as quick as the grain prices do. And when we start rolling back these land prices ------------??

How often are producers short the market?

Somehow, I just don't want to see Big Bob or Richard getting wet and washing a car.
But these are very hard times to call...you just know that extreme belt tightening has to occur for life to go on anywhere near normal, and you also know that this is nearly impossible.

aren't producers short if they are hedging (protecting) a physical price or forward selling before crop is ready to sell??
