1: 30 My youngest daughter - 5 - ( BTW a Doberman ) woke dad up , needed to go out ! I told her see ! I told you , you was drinking to much water before going to bed !
2:10 AM -- Wife woke me up and said the juice was out , I said SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ?
She then said aren't you going to call it in ? Well he11 I got up and made the call . The gal said there was a lot out in my area .
2:34 AM cell phone ring's ! I thought oh " bleep " this is not good ! Well it was the Town Marshall , First thing I thought was --- I didn't do it , I have been home all night --- LMAO BTW he worked for us on the farm for many years and is a good friend .
Well he called to tell me that a car had gone off the road and hit the BIG pole in front of Dad's barn and threw the fence , I said NO problem -- NO cattle .
4:27 AM - juice comes back on ! How did I know ? Weather radio went crazy ! Dang thing , if I ould have grabbed it , it would have been out in the SNOW !
4:30 AM -- Big girl get's up -- needs to go out !
4:35 AM ECI said to heck with this ! I got up !!!!! I really didn't say heck ! it was alot worse than that !
I guess that's what I get for giveing Mike and Jeff the business over posting late = being up with the little ones !
5:00 AM - what am I going to post up to today ? Mike stole my material for todays show ! I think they have my place bugged ! How else did he know what i WAS going to post ? and I don't what to hear it was a lucky -- GUESS !
Well it's NOW 6:13 Am and finally come up with something !
I put togather a few fun facts ! well they not really fun facts , maybe just fact's .
This is for the last 118 years or weather data , from Jim Noel ( NOAA/NWS )
Jan. thur Oct for moisture here the rackings 1 = dryest year to118 being wet
2012 --- IN. 18 out out 118
IL 15
IA 7
NB 1--- WOW !!!!!!!!1
KS -- 10 --- What have they been crying about ?
MO. 14
2012 Temps ---
IN 117 out of 118
IL-- 117
IA--- 118 !
NB--- 117
KS. --- 118
MO---- 118
So let's reveiw here , I will make my GUESS that these states will get more rain than last year , I will even go as far as to say that KS will get up to 12 inchs of rain this year ! that is 2 inchs better than last !
Temps the same way - hey odds are in my favor here !---- right !
The big question for here will be what the NAO ( Nothern Atlantic Oscillation ) does
So with this said , I will go with it will be a better crop for 2013 verus last = lower crop prices !
Thats my --- Guess and I'm sticking to it !
BTW - Notice we didn't make fun of anybody this week !---- did we ? LOL
See you next year !

Your post reminds me of a Christmas morning many years ago when the kids were still young.
I woke around 4am and there was something wrong, could not place it for a few minutes and then realized nothing was running. No Power.
A clear calm night so what could be wrong.
Walked out to check the fuse at the road that may have blown since neighbours appeared lit.
Fuse Ok but connecting wire from road power line to our service line was hanging down, unconnected.
Back to house and called in the outage and said call in those days went to someone who was 'on call' not a dispatch like they have now.
I said Merry Christmas when he sleepily answered the phone and then had to spend several minutes persuading him that I really had an outage and it was not a crank call.
Now we are at the edge of service area and trucks from a full hour drive away from us so tried 'resting' but 4 young kids were awake by then and wanting to check what santa had brought them but no lights.
Persuaded them to have a 'picnic' in our bedroom while waiting for power.
I had a snow removal route and a customer having company that wanted their drive and yard cleared before visitors came and now I am thinking the diesel is not going to want to start on this cold morning since heater has been off for several hours so I try it and it starts so I clear the yard at 6-6:30 in the morning and neighbours thought the kids must have got me up early.
Power on by 7:30 and kids got to check the tree.
'Normal' day after that.
BTW I predict lower crop prices unless weather helps us out agian somewhere in the world.
Hows that for predictions?

ECIN, I don't know how KS got that much rainfall. It was much less here than what you reported. Some places got even less than us. Our temps and rainfall and days over 100 rivaled the '30's. One town recorded higher temps and more days of it than that.

Well Ken no wonder you have so much time to post if you are up all night! Illinois at 15 well no wonder we were drier than a popcorn fart last year! In all seriousness I knew we were in trouble last July when I posted pictures of our corn crop and it went straight down hill from there. These things usually go in cycles and I say that based on past family history on our land this year will NOT be a stellar year. In 1935 we had 1936 right after it and it was not good according to grandad they had to work the teams at night to keep from killing them because of the heat. In 1953 we were followed by 1954 and according to dad it was not fun at all. In 1983 it was bad but then we had 1984 while it was somewhat better it was a long way from being stellar. I would bet this year might have higher yields (not hard to do when bean yields were more than corn in these parts) but I would not bet the farm on it. Lastly, each and every season has the potential to be the big one and that is what makes us come out swinging and hoping each year. Hope all here put it in to the bleachers this year!

Smoke - I will try and pull KS rain fall for -- almost last year , I can get it thur the NWS . I just used10 inchs , I think I read that is what Shaggy had got .
BTW I tryed to call Dad this morning about how much damage there was and could not get ahold of them , so drove over there , Rush - Shelby was still there at 10:00 AM ! our juice had been on for a good while , anyway they broke that BIG pole in three peices , this a main feeder line = 3 phase .
When they hit the first pole it also broke the pole that feeds mom and dad's place , the lines across the road and feed the tool shed and grain bin's , house is now back in service but the wires are down to the bins and shed , dad and I told them come back later , we didn't need any juice over there next week . Boy did they look tried !
BIg Thanks to the Rush Shelby Energy Crews !
I guess that stuff happenes when you live in the heart of snow country ! Calling for another 2-4 tomorrow , that would get us lose to 15 to 16 inchs in the last week .

ECIN, I was merely guessing on the rain. I will start putting more actual facts into my comments. I think I stated it was more than a 1 year timeframe. By any means, we are still very dry.
