Rain continues in Mato Grosso, farmers worry about rotting soybeans. Meanwhile, we saw harvesting of soybeans and planting of corn yesterday, in the same field. That was in the northeast Brazil state of Piauia. The farmer says he was getting high 40 soybean yields. He says he is 80 percent sold on new crop. Area cash price for March delivery of soybeans is $12.54. Get this, the area we were in is opening up new land for grain production. They have the potential to clear 7.0 million acres of land.
More later,]

Saulo,
Welcome to Agriculture.com. Folks, let me introduce you to a new international friend from Brazil. Saulo, it was great to speak to your local farmers in Nova Santa Rosa. You all threw the Gazeta do Povo group a real nice barbeque at the social facility. Very nice people. You're right, our group had to go, but I could have sat and talked all day with you.
For those just meeting Saulo for the first time, I will introduce you to him. He farms and serves as an agronomist in northeast Brazil. He farms on a plateau, thousands of miles up. Anyway, Saulo wants to become an active Marketing Talk poster. He's interested in it all. In his area, farmers have the potential to open up 7.0 million acres. It's really something to see the farms in this part of Brazil.
THanks again Saulo. If you're interested, ask Sauolo about crop prices and farmland in his area. You might be surprised.
Thanks,
Mike
