Prediction: Brazilian season will set record of 83.6 million tons of soybeans

Agroconsult has announced that Brazil will produce a record amount of 83.6 million tons of soybeans during the 2012/13 season. Analysts and forecasters say that even if El Niño does not show up this summer, the country still would have a record of soybean production. Currently, the crop area has extended over 7.4 million acres compared to this year.

Dry weather is more likely to happen in the Northeastern part of Brazil, but that could just diminish 10 to 20 percent of the total soybean crop, according to Agroconsult. It also could be compensated with higher than average rains in the South and Southeast.

It might not be exactly the same. The latest forecast from the USDA was 81 million tons for soybeans, but this was in early November.

I'm with you roarin!  Big bold predictions, so early in the season and then what happens?

Last several years of  predictions at this stage, have been "all talk".

You would think by now a bit of "proof" might be a more prudent approach!

I fell the market is not assuming that in Argentina and Brasil planting is not as perfect as it was estimated earlier. In Brasil they can compensate yields between south and north, but that is not the case for Argentina.

What will happen if we have trend yields? Brasil will have 77 MMT and Argentina  51 MMT. That is near 8 MMT less in South America. Are the US stocks prepare for that?

Good first hand and unfiltered information from "boots on the ground" in SA is a big plus.  Thanks for joining in and sharing!!
