Western corn belt corn in the final minutes of the 4th quarter

I'm about an hour south of Omaha in Nebraska, and this week will end the corn crop for 2012.  South of me about 10 days ago they got a shot of rain but it was a small area.  We haven't had any rain since the first half of June.  our early corn we'll have some corn the corn planted the first week of May might not get anything.  Soybeans hanging out but you can still see a mouse running down the row.

Same here dryland corn done and dryland beans will be done by end of week.  I'm about an hour north of Grand Island NE.  No rain since the May 20th when we got an inch.  Harvest should go quick this year because I will have 700 acres less to harvest.

West central Nebraska, no tilled into alfalfa:  This is after a 'saving' rain, which turned things green again.

Re: Western corn belt corn in the final minutes of the 4th quarter

Just came home from a trip and landed in Minneapolis and drove I 35 south home. Went there on the 6th. there have been changes and most not for the good. The dryness starts south of Albert Lee, Minn and is not severe in any one place but apparent in most. There will be lots of bushels but less every day.

Got home and saw some of the best beans of the trip right in my own fields. the 30" rows are closed in and when I opened the canopy to see the dirt between the row...dark colored dirt, still moist from that scattered rain event late last week., 1 2/10th inch here in the very immediate area. My corn is just now working on tassling and it's almost 100ish but with moisture.

The Winterset, Ia area is suffering as bad as any I saw.
