Mike and I worked at Jenna's Sunday afternoon for a few hours yesterday. One task I wanted his help with was moving the big window AC out of the den. Got it out ajd down the back steps, to set in the basement. We left the small bedroom one, just in case there is a warm Indian summer day or two, later on this fall. I can handle that one alone, if necessary.
he filled the wood burning fireplace insert, and built a good bed of coals, flipped on the blower, and slowed the ceiling fan to a crawl, to push heat down from the high ceiling in the den. He showed me the combination of kindling and draft settings, so I could warm myself up tonight. Yesterday started our first chilly, damp fall spell.
It was 55 in here when I arrived tonight, about eight. I have it up to almost 70, in a couple of hours, with two small armfuls of wood spent so far. Brought in my nighttime supply, and enough to get it rolling again tomorrow morning.
Jenna liked a cool house, and only lived in the back portion of this one in wintertime. We have the wood boiler ready to hook up now, and the installer is due tomorrow.
Had forgotten how convenient it is to sit by a warm fire to dry a head of hair fresh from the shower. Also, how drowsy it makes me feel. We flipped the valves in NC last nifty, and that house got toasty in quick order. This one will take more doing for a while, but we are headed in that direction.
Anyone else cuddled up by the fire this evening? Or, did you just bump the thermostat from AC to Heat?
