Am considering making this type of a planting in a nice fishbowl/statue I just brought home from the secondhand shop. 

The base is a nice verdigris bronze cat on it sback, balancing the bowl like a ball on its feet. It weighs a ton. It is about a foot tall,m mayb ea bit more, and the bowl is a nice mid-sized fishbowl.  My other possible choice for the kitty to hold is a copper gazing ball. 

I've seen the fighting fish in these bowls in a lot of places in the past few years.  Wondered if anyone has done this...was it a lot of trouble to keep the fish healthy and happy?  How often did you change the water, clean the bowl, etc.?
