I know it has been pointed out before but just to remind you that if you scrapped the middle man ( the insurance companies making money off both ends) and went with a single payer system you could all have the same coverage for much less and if it was setup like ours for nothing out of pocket except taxes.

Just reminding you there are other ways to do it.

$29000 family of 4 says you would only pay $542/year. $25000 pays $500/yr. $24000 Pays $480/yr. $23750 pays $475/yr. Looks like you need to get your income up to at least $23750.

That sounds a little contradictive from what you said earlier about what your premiums were. If you are putting part of your income back into your business and that disqualifies you from getting a subsidy,then you need to put less into your business and get some insurance for your family that you can afford!!!

So who do you suggest I not pay.
The guy that fixed my tractor when the engine blew, or the banker that holds the lein on my land.

Those were my two 'big' expenses last year, that disqualified me from any assistance.

I have another thought:

What about a health care law, that actually lives up to its promises, of helping out lower income Americans?   According to an article I read, 14% of Nebraskans fall into the same income bracket, that I did.  They made too much for Medicaid, but too little to qualify for an Obamacare subsidy.   
Isn't it ironic, that a law that was promised to 'help the working poor', will cheapen health insurance to someone making $75,000 a year, but not someone making $25,000?   How am I supposed to rally in support of a law that does that?

From the very begenning, when the whole 'we have to do something about health care' debate ever started, I said that if the government wanted to really do something that would be the most effective at helping EVERYONE have health coverage, at the lowest cost, and causing the least amount of chaos to our existing system, would be if the government would provide every citizen with a basic catastrophic health coverage of some sort, whether it be an insurance policy type of thing, or single payer.   People would have at least some form of coverage, at not that great of a cost, and the average citizen would probably pay less in taxes to cover this, than they already did for the insurance they had.  The tax to pay this, could be an incremental tax. so the low income people would get it free to cheap, while the rich would subsidize the others a bit.   From that point on, people would be free to pay for any extra coverage that they wanted to.   If they wanted to cover things like cosmetic surgery, transplants, nursing home care, etc, etc, etc.

This should be a very simple law, if they tried, they probably could get it to fit on 50 pages or legislation.

However, the health care law we got, is a monstrosity of hodge-podge regulations, that take up more space than a set of encyclopedias, that no one seems to be able to fully understand, or explain.  I'm not very old, but I have learned the hard way, that if you cannot explain your goal, and how you intend to achieve it, in a paragraph or less, chances are, it isn't going to work very well.

They should have single payer in Nebraska. Nebraskans are stuck in their ways. If they beleive something they always beleive it.  Instead of exploring the possibilities they will stick to the same worn path. When is the last time you ever did anythinng to improve your income? I'll bet you make a low income and think your path to prosperity is frugality.

It's a combination of both. Increasing the income stream by using your wits and after you earn it you strive to be careful with it.

One thing you don't do is blame your lack of success on something else or somebody else. You take responsibility and ask yourself what I can do to improve my lot in life. You don't blame taxes or obamacare for your miserable existance.

Wow, way to be 'compassionate'.

Of course, when Obama, and other writers/supporters of the ACA bill promised again and again, that it would 'help' pepole like me, and it doesn't, it's all my fault.   I guess, in a way it just might be partly my fault, for even believing a little bit, that what they were saying might be true.
