I'm in favor of relatively light sentences for everybody, black, brown, white, rich or poor who is young and doesn't have priors. That would assume a very long period of probation, counseling and observation.
Initially the victim in the case expressed the same wish. But that was before the lawyers got involved and everybody is advised not to admit anything or show too much remorse.
Or maybe he's just a spoiled little jerk. How would I know.
