Wife and kids probably thought he was going off elk hunting when he loaded his arsenal in the truck and headed out.

Well, as far as the root issue, we could go back to before almighty big government asserted governance over the lands it has title to. Those days were marked with range wars and the spoils going to the people who could hire the most guns. Might even have some positive ancillary effects.

But the gubmint did assert control by giving very favorable ;lease terms to some families, some of whom are no longer happy with the peace treaty.

Perhaps a bit excessive?

He clearly appears to have broken the law and a good stretch seems due. But might just make it harder to get convictions on some of the cases that are hanging out there.

Not dissimilar to the Hammonds of Malheur fame- a jury of their peers found them guilty but the outrage was primarily about the law saying they had to serve the serving the mandatory minimum statutorily.

Although as noted, most of Our Gang strongly favors mandatory minimums as they are most meted out to Those People.

Where in the Constitution does it give the government the right to own land?

Re: 68 years for Bundy militant

I have not checked this forum for some time so forgive my delay. The question of government ownership has been decided many times by the supreme court which is in the constitution  to decide such questions. Your are beating a dead horse, time to move on.

Well you must be right because the federal government owns 84.5% of Nevada. It has no problem defending that in court but they sure have a hard time enforcing the laws on ILLEGAL immigration.
