Just a couple quick refutes here, GTO.  The much ballyooed "70%" tax bracket was never payed by anyone because there was a ton of exemptions, truth be told we are probably squeezing a higher percentage out of the top earners today with the 35% or whatever it is.  The reason there was no "trickle down" raise in wages under Reagan, Bush ...annnd Clinton was because of free trade and illegals.  A packing plant job used to pay the best wages in town, today it`s a $7/hr taxpayer funded affair.  We used to make televisions, shoes, clothes, cars, parts all sorts of stuff today the Chinaman gets to do that when the American`s proud job is asking if you "want fries with that?".  It`s ridiculous that Robert Reich is so damned stupid, this sh!t is plain as the nose on your face.

Uselss to say GTO..they won't be caled on it

You've got 3 huge ones of your own in there BA

Re: 7 Repbulican lies, that the simpletons can't resist

Reagan declared war against labor and there is an ongoing campaign to break unions and drive labor costs lower. Notice your own friends here making judgements about who is overpaid and they don't even know what they do and what they are paid for it. You guys are pretty much sure that everyone is overpaid other than you and the other tychoons.

Those that were vigorously avoiding the 70% tax rate are still avoiding the 35% tax rate. They are buying legislation that favors them with out and out bribery. You do know about 15% capital gains rates while the working stiffs pay 15% in payroll taxes alone on top of their ordinary income tax rates.

I find it Ironic that farmers rejoice when a businessman succeeds and applaud that Bill Gates and Warren Buffett can make huge wealth. At the same time are disgruntled at the laboring man that get a decent wage and benefit package and oppose any legislation that would offer improvement to the working class.

I wonder how labor got to be your enemy when they are your best customer for food and fiber. American business thrives when they have customers with money. You folks seem to thinkl that oppressed workers are good for business and the economy. I can't follow that tyoe of thinking.

BTW the &0% tax rate and the 35% tax rates are only on the upper portion of their income and only if it is earned income. Alot of those folks have much of their income in capital gains which is not taxed as ordinary income or subject to payroll taxes.

So you`re okay with the way the American worker got screwed over with free trade, Bruce?  I`m just asking, I ain`t tellin`.  Reich says absolutely NOTHING about that REAL reason that wages went down, but don`t hold your breath, Reich was one of the architect of this mess, C.Y.A. I believe it`s called.  What did Reich do to prove his points, other than scribling on big sheets of paper???  Chicken scratchin`s on paper seem to be good enough "proof" for you if they`re hummin` your tune, huh Bruce?

Re: 7 Repbulican lies, that the simpletons can't resist

I recall a neighbor in the 70`s, lamenting at how he wanted to sell grain to the soviets and didn`t want to have to "pay $16 for a shirt" ..he was a free trader...today he buys shirts for $5 at Wally World but he is no longer a farmer.  We had a good thing goin` back then.  The Democrats threw the unions under the bus and "adapted" esentially the Dems are saying "Workers, your factory jobs are gone and ain`t comin` back. But the good news is we are gonna tax the crap out of the 1% and give you welfare, like Obamacare(something a proud worker used to be able to buy on his own)".  Here`s the Trillion dollar question that reich did not touch: If you tax the "wealthy at even a 100% rate How Long does that run the government? One month? Two months? ..Probably not longer than 2 months, somewhere in here we gotta talk about cutting spending.  Firemen ..Teachers..hell I love `em all but they do not create something tangible for the economy.  You have to have enough firemen to put out fires enough teachers to teacher, but to add willy-nilly above that is a sure stop at the poorhouse.  Bring back jobs that pay a unsubsidized LIving Wage..but no one wants to listen to reason.

Sorry, I went back, and there is not text. According to BA, it isn't worth your time anyway.
