7 years not that long
Less than 10% of this particular human’s lifetime, up ‘til now.
Point being, less than 7 years ago the Grand Old Party nominated a man to run for the highest office in the land and he runs a good, clean race and comes relatively close to winning.
Less than 7 years later he is advised by his party’s leaders not to attend a confab of the dominate faction of his party, out of concern for his personal safety.
Millions of people entrusted him with their votes. Hard to believe that all of them won’t take notice.

Re: 7 years not that long
Okay let`s do look at Mitt. 7yrs ago the Democrats called Mitt the most vile human being on the planet, "binders of women..Baaaaaain Capital workers diiiiied of cancer working for Baaaaain Capital, dog on the roof of Mitt`s station wagon, Mitt bullied kids at school holding them down and cutting their hair" And then Salon articles of "Are Mormons Christian?" and "That weird cult of Mormonism" even the weird underwear that Mitt wears.....remember all that crap?
Well, now Mitt joined up with those people, but you know what, they still hate him, even after he turned Judas goat. Oh the Libs will throw bones to him (30 pieces of silver) but they`ll never have a tough decision between him and Bernie Sanders.

Re: 7 years not that long
BA, remember when Bruce wrote about how Mitt Romney had those matinee idol looks and was born and bred to be a Republican candidate, and how awful he actually was?
With Romney, it goes back to Trump making him grovel for a week while Mitt foolishly thought he was under serious consideration for the SOS position, and when Trump then pulled it and laughed at him, Romney lost it. Just about everyone else in America could see how that movie was going to end except for Romney.
If Romney had a set , like Trump, and would have not let Candy Crowley roll him up in the carpet during the debate with the zero, he probably would have been elected president. At the time, it seemed like only a RINO could win a national election, but Trump has shown that the right personality can still win.

Re: 7 years not that long
Hey Red. Canuck could write a post titled "Revenge" concerning Romney`s small actions in the impeachment trial. There is more afoot than first appears Romney is similar to the Bidens.
https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2020/02/romneys_links_to_burisma.html
It wasn’t 2012 Presidential loser Mitt Romney’s faith that caused him to vote to impeach President Trump, whom he once begged to rescue him from political oblivion. While Romney, who undoubtedly entertained visions of succeeding a President Trump after his vote helped remove from office, says it was his faith that caused him to believe Trump really did abuse his power to pressure the Ukrainians to dig up dirt on the Bidens, more likely it was because that Romney wanted to put an end to an administration that might expose his link to the Bidens and Burisma,
Romney will go down in the history as the only senator to vote to impeach a member of his own party, but the question remains why he retained such animus against the man who forgave Romney his 2016 rant warning, as Adam Schiff, Nancy Pelosi, and that seditious bunch later would, that Donald J. Trump was an unhinged danger. Trump supported Romney’s Utah Senate run. Et tu, Mitt?
Why, as CNN put it, has Mitt Romney "been a lone Republican voice expressing concern about President Donald Trump's July phone call with Volodymyr Zelensky in which Trump asked Ukraine's President to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his family"?
Little notice has been paid to the fact that Joseph Cofer Black, a former CIA operative, served as Romney’s special adviser in his 2012 campaign for President. As Breitbart News reported at the time:
In October 2011, Romney announced that Black, who had served in the CIA since 1974, had been selected as a special adviser.
“I am deeply honored to have the counsel of this extraordinary group of diplomats, experts, and statesmen,” Romney said at the time. “Their remarkable experience, wisdom, and depth of knowledge will be critical to ensuring that the 21st century is another American Century.”
Black trained for covert operations and eventually became the director of the National Counterterrorism Center from 1999 until 2002. After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks perpetrated by al-Qaeda, Black was appointed ambassador at large and coordinator for counterterrorism in December 2002 by President George W. Bush.
John Brennan succeeded Black in his job as director of the National Counterterrorism Center.
Cofer Black would come to know Hunter Biden as well. Black would wind up serving on the board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma at the same time that Hunter, who had no special knowledge of Ukraine or the energy business, was being paid ungodly sums to curry influence with the Obama-Biden administration. Was Black also hired because he was an adviser to a former governor and future senator with good connections in the Washington swamp? As The Federalist reported last September:
As Democrats and the media remain fanatically obsessed with assembling some form of a “quid pro quo” from the infamous Trump-Zelensky phone call, new details have emerged regarding Burisma, the company for which Hunter Biden worked and the company that Ukraine’s top prosecutor had been investigating before Vice President Joe Biden had the prosecutor fired via a months-long pressure campaign. According to web archives, top Mitt Romney adviser Joseph Cofer Black, who publicly goes by “Cofer Black,” joined Burisma’s board of directors while Hunter Biden was also serving on the board.
According to The New Yorker, Hunter joined Burisma’s board in April of 2014 and remained on it until he declined to renew his position this past May. Meanwhile, according to Burisma’s website, Black was appointed in February of 2017 and continues to serve on its board. The timelines would indicate that Black and Biden worked together at Burisma, and indeed, web archives from late 2017 show Black and Biden listed simultaneously on the board.

Re: 7 years not that long
It`s funny, Nancy prays/preys for Trump "clap clap clap" Romney`s faith dictates that he impeach the president "clap clap clap" but every other damned day of the week, the Left is mocking religion. Where`s Canuck mocking Romney on "his magical beings telling him to impeach the president"?
I like to think I`m a person of Faith, but I don`t use my Faith as a crutch to keep me from being purposely immoral. I don`t stand at a wh0reh0use crying that "I`d go in there, but it`s my faith that`s keeping me out!". That would be a cop out and makes Christians and or Mormons look bad.

Re: 7 years not that long
The interesting thing to wonder about Romney is if The Father of ObamaCare actually had an alternative in mind when he flipped to bein' agin' it.
That would have made him unique among Republicans also.

Once your socialists figure out how to make Obamacare actually work, they can then figure out how everyone in America gets a $10 ticket to see the next superbowl. Maybe you can see a Dr. on TV, too, instead of live?
Looks like Canada is exploring some private pay options to get the fatal wait times down for some medical procedures....who would have thunk it, right?

Re: 7 years not that long
I'm waitin' to see the plan from the Big Pharma Party*.
Except for 3-4 million households that are in the individual market, don't regularly qualify for subsidies and have no preexisting conditions, nobody is better off by just blowing it up.
The 3-4 million make good hostages for political theater (could have easily been moderated, if not fixed) but don't amount to a lot of votes.
*a couple of modest but constructive bills passed by the Do Nothing Congress and sitting on Moscow Mitch's desk.
