Re: 9/11 as Government Blowback Day

May be the plane that crashed into the field was suppose to hit 7WTC. Since it missed may be some muslims quick run up there and set some charges to get it to fall also. They were only trying to clear out a spot to put a mosque.

Why that more or less than the others? You are severly overestimating what the man on the street has known or been concerned about over the years.

Re: 9/11 as Government Blowback Day

The pacification of the western tribes after reconstruction was widely know and advocated. The man on the street wanted them gone. Ever hear of manifest destiny?  Same with the yellow scare, the press was full of demonizations of those from east Asia and those people were treated very poorly by the public at large. Segregation? Do I need to explain that?

Re: 9/11 as Government Blowback Day

Those things were pogroms, not popular movements Sam.

The average Joe out ther clearing stumps and setting up mercantile ventures while they were undertaken wasn't 1% as aware as the average Joe is today of what is going on on the big stage.

Those were either the actions of elites or were allowed with elite sanction. It wasn't until after the advent of universal popular entertainment and news reporting and convenient travel that they became widely known of. And even after that, when it should have hit everyone right between the eyes, it was a long, hard slog.

"That's a Hearst rag- good for business though, probably in more ways than one."

Did you read the Popular Mechanics article Hardnox?  Seems a little to easy to simply disregard it because of who owns the magazine.

"Jet fuel burns at 800° to 1500°F, not hot enough to melt steel (2750°F). However, experts agree that for the towers to collapse, their steel frames didn't need to melt, they just had to lose some of their structural strength—and that required exposure to much less heat. "I have never seen melted steel in a building fire," says retired New York deputy fire chief Vincent Dunn, author of The Collapse Of Burning Buildings: A Guide To Fireground Safety. "But I've seen a lot of twisted, warped, bent and sagging steel. What happens is that the steel tries to expand at both ends, but when it can no longer expand, it sags and the surrounding concrete cracks."

Two nights ago I saw a program on 9-11 on the National Geographic channel.  Nat. Geo. reported that the impact from the planes ripped off a lot of the special insulation on the support beams meant to help protect them and the structure during a fire.  They said the planes were loaded with 22,000 gallons of jet fuel and that the fires weakened the exposed horizontal support beams above the fire and after one floor collapsed on the others it started a domino effect where the weight of the above floors falling onto the next floor below them caused that floor to collapsed onto the next which kept the chain reaction going.  When I watched the video it seems as though you can see a very slight pause between each floor as the buildings went down.

Computer estimates are fine but as you say no one has ever really ever experimented on such a large scale as this to know just how materials would react in such a disaster.

Re: 9/11 as Government Blowback Day

Obviously the creation of some huge demon where none exists is part of your walking papers, to say whats going on today is somehow worse than the examples I gave you is ludicrous.

Re: 9/11 as Government Blowback Day

Actually not...the big dialogue now with exponentially thousands times more people involved, such as that (or they) would be, is the natural manifestation of the manifest destiny you mentioned a couple of exchanges ago. Our little Jihad.

Hanging on to a thread. Tightly. There isn't a fear of the most minor order that hasn't been stoked...a fear card that the shameless won't play.

Re: 9/11 as Government Blowback Day

Since I'm feeling increasingly  provoked I've decided to go out with all guns blazing.

Right before our eyes there is a severe case of domestic blowback in progress.

The backbone of the war on terror is white, working class, Christian and disproportionately rural. Those are the families and communities that have bourne the greatest human cost in the effort.  It isn't surprising that it is where the idea that the WAT is a Christian crusade against Islam finds growing acceptance.

The problem is that after 9 years of very hard slogging, the message appears to be on the verge of going pathological among the recipients. Whether that is desired (Israeli Right and Co., remaining neocon fifth columnists, others) or a more than a bit concerning (the US military, foreign policy establishment) it seems to be a fact.

In my view it is time to start a blowback backfire to burn this thing out. **bleep** the consequences. The Bush administration lied about WMD, the Iraqi tie to 9-11. Those are facts that only True Believers will deny at this point but the recognition only finished off the Bush administration, it didn't change the trajectory of events.

OK, so let's go back a bit further. There is no doubt in my mind that a re-opening of the 9-11 case for a fresh investigation would ignite the gravest national crisis since at least the Civil War. So be it, I don't care if it means total loss in world standing, economic collapse, whatever. It may be hard to see from here but where we're heading now could be worse.
