One of the most important lessons of the past year was that terrorists are everywhere and we’re all under threat, all the time. This is the grim reality 15 long years after 9/11—year after year of Muslims attacking the West, culminating most recently in the mayhem of Paris and the bloodshed of San Bernardino. And 2016 will likely be worse.

In the New Year, learn to ignore the primal fears in your brain and relax. Remind yourself that you’re safe; safer than you were last year and every year before that. But remember that others, people in the Middle East and Africa, aren’t. And don’t let your politicians go on about how they’re going to protect us; demand to know what they’re doing to protect those less fortunate than us. Also, please check in with your doctor. Cancer is several thousand times more likely to kill you than a suicide bomber.

I`m not scared of terrorists or cancer, but you know something that has never been responsible for one single human fatality?   My Guns!  So don`t try to take them away, please.

They aren't going anywhere but the idea is to keep your mental patient neighbor from being able to get one!!  I think I told you yesterday that the people you support--militias, NRA, etc--are doing more to get guns taken than all the liberals could even think about!

Just as we take steps to avoid cancer we must also take steps to keep terrorist away from our society. If you smoke 4 packs of cigarettes/day you have a much higher chance of getting cancer than a non smoker. If you allow terrorist inside of your country you have a much better chance of a terror attack than if you bar terrorist from entering. If you get cancer you use every tool at your disposal to protect yourself from the cancer spreading. Guns are a weapon that our society has at it's disposal to protect ourselves from terrorist and we must not allow that tool to be taken from us.

So either congress and the NRA agrees to gun restrictions that the left even admits wouldn`t have prevented Newtown or San Bernardino, or liberals will really take away guns...well that`s awfully generous of them, but no I think we`ll pass.

You and BA sent me back to re-read the article because I could not remember anything in it about guns in it let alone taking them away from anyone.

Maybe you both have a deep down feeling that all the guns in your possession are really no help and as studies show make your homes more dangerous and that is why you both jumped on that instead of what the author was talking about.

And in case you still do not understand the subject was the unnecessary fear of terrorists instead of the real dangers around you and how some politicians inflame that fear for their purposes and to the detriment of peoples lives.

I still go out to the mailbox and even assist distressed motorists without a gun.

Of course I'm getting old and just want to aid the Republic by relieving some of that future medicare and SS spending.

Ok, I don't remember all the details of every shooting but was it Newtown or Sandy Hook where the shooter killed his mother first?  Better background checks would have stopped that one.  If authorities had known she had a kid living in her house who was getting mental health treatments, she would have had to have a very secure inspected safe place for her guns or she wouldn't have been able to purchase.   It isn't "give this or we take your guns"!  Where did you get that idea?  What I'm saying is that if the right and the NRA don't start giving in a little and start coming Dow hard on all the shootings and death from kids killing kids with daddy's gun, the American people will finally say "ENOUGH! TAKE THE GUNS!"  I don't want that to happen but it will if some things don't change!!

How many people have terrorists killed in American during the last 14-15 years/. How Americans have been killed by Americans with guns during that time?  You can look it up if you don't already know.
