Abbott, "Texas will eliminate rape"

Abbott, in response to the question about rape victims' lack of access to abortion, " we gave them six weeks, and besides we're going to eliminate rape".

"Eliminate rape"?  Well, it looks like Texas has a long way to go in that department. For example,  Travis county in 2017 had 625 indictments for rape that resulted in a total of 13 plea deals, one trial, and the rest have gone nowhere.  Clearly, Texas has a culture of tolerating rape.

In that light, Texas's new anti-abortion law makes perfect sense, Texas has a culture that disrespects women, denies them the protection of the law and justice as well as persecutes them for the consequences.

More of a case of “getting the numbers to say what you’re trying to prove”.

Doubt that all the “accusations of rape” make it to the rapes per what ever number column.   Those didn’t really happen, right?    And if a former husband rapes his estranged wife, we’ll, that’s not really rape.   She asked for it a long time ago.   Right?

About 50k college students there- I’d guess 10-100x that in that population.

Althoigh one of the big culture war grievances is colleges dealing with all But the most heinous of those in an extrajudicial fashion.

And women of course - we’re just asking for it all the time.    That’s why the Taliban keep their women hidden, isn’t it?   So the guys won’t be tempted “as often” by those “asking for it”.   Guys are always ready to deliver - aren’t they?

Austin is now an extremely affluent place, with CA type housing shortages and prices.

But also CA level homelessness and gentrification displacement. Whatever that number represents, I’m not buying it.

There will be lots of housing available soon.   It’s the cemeteries that will be getting crowded….

I’ve always thought about Sammy.  He’s got a totally selfish, narcsssistic, insular outlook on life but at least he’s rather bright. And I’d imagine rather well educated and modestly experienced.

But *****?  Travis County is what he comes up with? Out of a State that has more counties than a good number of other states combined

Liberals, progressives, hipsters….all sorts of deviants live there and are moving there like it was a gold rush.  For, as much as anything, to get away from the batshlt crazy RW places they were from.

Highly vaccinated. Deeply D voting.

UT might actually be one of the really safe places for your girl to transfer to. Along with relative COVID safetyThe Governor just decreed that no matter what is going on, nobody will be allowed to rape her.
