Wonder if Steve Ballmer has given any secdond thoughts to the $2B that he parted with.

Owning a team is the #1 vanity posession in the age of oligarchs and is a major "wealth generator" primarily becvasue there are 1) ever more oligarchs to sell to, for ever more and 2)cities and states are suckers for their blackmail.

But the rub is that your stake rests on the behavior of a dozen or in the case of the NFL a few dozen folks who could be regarded as lab specimems for dysfunction- from their upbringings to how they've been treated by the world since they were adolescents.

Not specifically, mind you, but in general I'm actually in favor of more murders, molestations, maybe some kiddie porn and whatnot.

Same actually goes for university presidents who are fishing in the same talent pool.

Most of what Google reports as having happened on tht day was a tornadao of massive proportions that hit Oklahoma.

Most of these folks here are essentially neophytes out on the dark edges of the right.  New to them, actually, and you could teach them alot.  They were more than comfortable for 25 years under neoliberal administrations, featuring both parties, that were adminstered by "proper folk".

You are obviously a seasoned professional.  Where do your deep roots in these matters lie?  John Birch Society? Lyndon LaRouche?  David Duke? Falwell, Jenkins and LeHaye? Maybe Hayek....Sammy seems to have left us so that caucus needs a representative.  Red hasn't picked up the ball very well on that, try as he mght. Apocolyptic premillllenialist theology and literature? They need something big to couple with their petty, narcissism driven complaints.

If a child was maced the operant conditioning or whatever it is called would be more effective, and mace or just pepper spray would not leave more than an indelible bright orange stain.


But disciplining children is cultural more than it is psychological. Even if it is "effective" it does not do much more than terrorize. If he is confident in what he is doing is truly a character building form of discipline, there do exist cultures as such. Invoking culture by meting out unnecessary beatings is unjustified and would appear to be stupid and backward.

It's not the job of the NFL to punish misbehaving football players. It's the job of the law since spousal abuse or child abuse is very clearly illegal in each and every state. It's not what managment wants or what the fans want or what the millions of enraged people want.

It is what the law says is just and reasonable punishment in and after the trial. One should not be banned from football nor should they be dismissed from the roster even temporarily until the evidence is hear in a court of law. With the one exception that women and children are unsafe because of his continued threatening state.

As much as wife beater and child abusers disgust me, I think punishment should b meted out after the case is heard and not before.Is there anything just about a 35 million $ fine for punching your girlfriend in the nose and knocking her out. That s the punishment posed for the Ravens running back. This with out the opportunity to voice his case before a judge and jury. About as sane as the railroading the dixie chicks got for offending a few repubs.

It troubles me that mob influence can persuade businesses to wreak havoc on their employees careers. A better deal would be a trial by jury and a prison sentence. And it is not just pro athletes but farmers businessmen and drunks that choose to behave so badly. The laws should be quite explicit about what terrible behavior this is and punishment should be very strong, but I don't think mob rule should do the deciding.

It was actually about a two year time span from 1964-1966 while the government instituted the great society. Daddy became a thing of the past replaced by government. Since then trillions have been transfered to fight poverty yet the percent of poverty remains the same. Society has crumbled. Now 72% of births in the African American communities are out of wedlock and 67% of African American children grow up without a father in the home. They never learn how to be a man or a father.

The Spartans would call Adrian Peterson a **bleep**. They killed the kids that weren't perfect, even after they were out of the womb. THey didn't have ultrasounds.

I never really got spanked a lot as a kid nor whipped with a belt, but I knew it was always an option on the table, and it served as a pretty good deterrant.

Likewise, with my kids, its always on the table and really not the governments business unless it "goes too far" which is what this case is all about.

I side with waiting for the facts to play out, and a jury to decide if necessary. And I saw the pictures, too.
