Afghanistan, I guess it comes down to ....

I guess it comes down to whether you believe the situation there would be any different in another 20 years.  The abrupt collapse of the Afghan Army and the speed with which the warlords changed sides suggests the answer is no.

Too bad about the women & girls but trump supporters never believed in human rights anyhow.  And heaven forbid they come here as refugees, Carlson & Inghram made that very clear.

As for the interpreters & families, they've moved 22,000 so far, if the Taliban wants their $7 billion in the currency account back, they can just let them go.

Like a bad stock trade, time to cut our losses.

It's not about staying, it comes down to having the competence to implement the withdrawal - obviously biden and his lackey's failed....and of course biden picked his lackey's.

A very stupid person wrote: "Too bad about the women & girls but trump supporters never believed in human rights anyhow."

I`m in favor of getting out of foreign entanglements, let`s look at it.  There were 2500 US troops peacekeeping in Afghanistan, they were about as safe as a soldier stationed over seas can be.  Seems to me, those 2500 troops will be reassigned to Germany or Japan where we`ve been for 70 80 years ...so riddle me why we gave up on Afghanistan after only 20 years?

At any rate, why wasn`t the military the LAST to leave?

Stephen Miller/Pence aide/Afghanistan

The landscape littered with land mines.

The President is an impeccably decent man and tradition and protocol generally dictate that incoming Presidents don’t highlight and dwell on predecessors actions. But the rope just might be too short in this case to wait for enough of the public, and the bending over backwards to be “fair” press to pick-up on what the really big sticker on getting people out is.

As someone here said so profoundly, this is what getting out was going to look like. 15, 10 or 5 years ago. Or whenever, hence.

The Administration actually dug through the deck and dug out The Old Maid voluntarily. Obviously knowing full well that they would run head on into a rabid RWing, upset over all sorts of indignities, that was going to pile on in the ongoing effort to “own” the opposition. And a mainstream press desperate to remain relevant.  And, more so, sadly and cynically profitable.

You folks don’t want too many people looking, thinking and figuring this out.  Avoiding that will be one hell of an undertaking.

Re: Afghanistan, I guess it comes down to ....

It doesn`t things were in place and ready to leave Afghanistan, I mean Biden is the president, right?  If you`re having trouble getting US interpreters out, then the military doesn`t leave, right?   But they did, under Biden`s orders.

This is ridiculous "Trump`s ray-cyst  officials won`t clear Afghani aides to leave the country"...Biden`s the president.

"Trump set the timeline to leave Afghanistan"....Biden is the president.

So what`s the excuse and how are you going to blame Trump for leaving US weapons for the Taliban?   Once again, Biden is the president, it was his call.

What it really comes down to is 2500 US peacekeepers kept what we`re seeing on the news from happening.   Wouldn`t it have been much cheaper to just keep the limited force there?   Who knows, the Taliban watching Dynasty & Dallas another 20 years, they may`ve changed.

BA, maybe this helps...if you look at the forum, Knapper jumped ship on Biden, RJG doesn't comment....the only liberals supporting senator joebiden, the fake president, are the three doofus triplets.

Even the tick tock karen is scratching her mask at this I assume.

Web search olivia troye first to save your time, she is bruceQ's opinion source; a disgruntled Trump employee who never said a peep when employed and then left and became an anti-Trumper biden voter.

Re: It seems to me, ....

In light of the nincompoops' previous positions on trump betrayal of the Kurds (in support of it), I would have never guessed they would be in favor of staying in Afghanistan.  What a turnaround.

It seems to me that the time for the nincompoops to voice their support for staying in Afghanistan would have been last year when engineered the whole thing.  Trump bragged about doing it and recently, Esper confirmed that trump deliberately undercut the Afghan government during the negotiation.

But I never heard a word out of the nincompoops back then.
