The primary purpose of this study was to try & detect any difference between the BNT & Moderna vaccines. Moderna appears to be slightly better but the real message was just how good both vaccines were in preventing hospitalization & death in older men.

In a matched study of US Veterans whose average age was 70-yr-old 65,000 received the BNY1622b third dose and 65,000 received the MRNA-1273 third dose & followed for 16 weeks. About 3% became infected, 0.2% were symptomatic (got sick), about 0.2% ended up in the hospital, 0.05% ended up in ICU, and 0.03% died (about 40).
