Seems to be too much of a feudal system in too many areas over there. No hope for the bottom rungs, no opportunities to have a better life, and value systems much different than the rest of the world. They don't seem to care if they have nothing so long as they can eat, sleep, have children, and kill anyone that believes differently than they do.
