5 killed in Iowa

Five people were killed in collisions on the Interstate between Lincoln and York on Sunday morning.   No guns were involved.  No call for lower speed limits, no call for real enforcement of speed limits, no calls for raising the age to drive, no calls for removing cars that can exceed the speed limit, no calls for background checks on drivers.

Re: 5 killed in Iowa

So have you THOUGHT about that comparison ?

Guns are designed to kill.

Cars are designed to move people and things between places.

Guns have few laws or controls applied to them

Cars have to be licensed, insured and have a driver with a license operate them.

Depending on the area but overall fewer than 50% of homes have a gun.

Around 90% of homes have a vehicle

The average driver spends well over an hour a day in their vehicle getting around, how much time does the average gun owner use their gun for anything?

Most deaths from a gun are intentional

Most deaths from vehicles are accidental.

Are the 2 things comparable?

Re: 5 killed in Iowa

Is there anything in our constitution about cars?

Nonsensical question.

But it of course could be also asked is there anything in your constitution about machine guns or 'assault rifles'?

Re: 5 killed in Iowa

No, it is ultimately the basis for the discussion --

The right to keep and bear arms is a US citizen's RIGHT, while driving a car is generally a state-provided PRIVILEGE.  There is quite a difference.

Re: 5 killed in Iowa

So when the old papers were written that you now site people used muskets and horse drawn vehicles.

Your government decided to register the vehicles which are now necessary for citizens and material to move around your country and you call it a privilege but guns which have no real purpose except to kill are not registered and contrary to cars are not a privilege .

Why are vehicles not a RIGHT too since they are much more necessary and used daily by most people.

And why are guns not a PRIVILEDGE since only a small % homes even have one let alone use them very often.
