Re: Are your kids going to be red, or blue?

Not so sure it's a GOP -Dem thing so much. First step in cleaning up the situation is Democrats becoming democrats. a "blue tea party" , if you would.

A look at the graph shows the steepest period of climb in the red line in the 2nd half of the 90's.  It's then it probably could have been stopped. And a Democratic voting block thought that is what they had voted for in 1992.

That's when the music died.. The  long term.ill-effects of Reganomics were never more starkly clear than in 1992. And no sooner than getting in our populism elected Demcorat President went over to the dark side. Along the way we got NAFTA and the repeal of Glass-Stegal.

The problem is very real, and the Mother Jones info and Ed Shultz lay it out very well.. But it's causes are bi-partisan. Not bi-idealogical, but bi-partisan for sure.

Re: Are your kids going to be red, or blue?

Productivity goes up as owners and investors invest in equipment that replaces union workers.  The new equipment works faster and produces more goods, it is more efficient.

Those who invest in more efficient equipment and those who find ways to save companies millions if not billions of dollars are rewarded with an increased return on investment, increased wages, salaries and benefits.

The American worker who works for somebody else doesn't get more because he has personally not become worth more to any company.  With the unemployment rate at over 9% and real unemployment at around 16% he can be replaced easily.  This isn't a Democrat/Republican thing it's an economic thing.

However when you elect a congress and a president that wants to raise taxes, increase government, increase government jobs, start new wars, destroy private business (health care), restrict via the EPA common business practice, raise energy prices and encourage illegal immigration this is what happens.

Re: Are your kids going to be red, or blue?

There is a difference between assuming that workers aren't worth more and assuming they are but not paying them more because you can get by with it. Walmart for example is a big corporation  with huge profits but fails to pay the bulk of their workers a living wage plus benefits. Are they worth more if they contribute to the prosperity pf the business?

People that think like that have the capitalist mindset that nothing measures up to the drive for profits. Human condition is not a serious consideration. The same is true in the health insurance business. Serving customers is not a company goal but profits are.

Your comments are merely a continuation of the campaign against labor. The us versus them mentality of keeping working people down so that the business elite can prosper. How did you come to this point that you hold such disdain for working people. Why have they become your enemy?.

Good question, Don. I have been wondering the same thing myself! Are all the right leaning posters on this website, the wealthy elite? They are obviously not in my wage/tax bracket. Why are they so hard hearted and thoughtless about the plight of people with less than they have? I am beginning to believe they think they are above all this, it's a fools errand, they have embarked upon.

Re: Are your kids going to be red, or blue?

I couldn`t get your link to work GTO, but I`ll run with the train of thought.  Us liberals and conservatives probably can somewhat agree on where we want to end up ie, happy, healthy kids, people living comfortably and such.  We just disagree on the roads to take in getting there.  My take on you liberal`s idea is `The greedy foxsuckers are screwing the workers!! So we`ll tax the crap out of the foxsuckers and give healthcare, unemployment, education and other bennies` Isn`t that pretty much you guy`s idea?  See, the problem with that is it`s like if you have a really bad cold and dope yourself full of medicine, you didn`t cure your cold you just masked the symptoms.  Neither party has the correct answers on the whole, as Bruce mentioned about NAFTA and Glass-Stegal. Obama and the Dems don`t have any plans at all on reversing that, if they did I would consider them.  As it stands both parties are a wash with a favor to the Repubs because they appoint more Constitutional Judges and keep the country slightly more moral. Ideally we`d ship the illegals back and put Americans to work in those jobs at a living wage.  That **bleep** Rick Perry doesn`t even understand that and who knows what Huntsman would do.  Probably the best thing for America would be Obama gets a 2nd term and Repubs strongly control both Houses to put the kibosh on his socialism and pray to God that he doesn`t have to replace any judges.

I think they blame labor for high prices. They seem to want to ignore the other factors in pricing. New hampshire legislature voted to end minimum wage laws in that state. The governor D vetoed that bill.

Is it possible to get the names of the 3 million that constitute the top 1%? Some need to see that they are not amongst them. Too easy to not acknowledge countrywide problems when they see their own pocketbooks in good shape.

Re: another jealous poster !!!!!

Ollie, I have to say that you have made me very happy because I found out for the first time since you have entered into posting here that you are not a person who gripes, because if you were, you would be a hypocrite and you can't possibly be one of those. Thank GOD! I suspected you of being a griper for a long time because I was just jealous of your superior skills with words, spelling, articulation and upward social mobility. You made my day when I found out all those posts you make about Obama and liberals, etc are not gripes. This is certainly as you often say...fun.

(PS - anything is one word, not two - not griping, just letting you take advantage and move upward)
