Re: Are your kids going to be red, or blue?

Heck yes! why not put a manure pit out there? Those folks bought high end water front property but that doesn't mean they have a right to the view. Are you saying that there is no place to put a wind farm that would not damage the scenic view of those that live on the water. Why not build on in Clear lake of Cornelia or west Okiboji for that matter?

Perhaps on top of Mt Rushmore or in arlington cemetary. If Ted Kennedy was agin it, you would be for it.

Re: Are your kids going to be red, or blue?

Most, if not all, big businesses, have inside access to governments to get laws changed, court opinions changed, executive orders changed to get their favoring policies, their way. The system you described with the production assembler is the same one that big business CEO's and upper management have created and used in the past. Why are their businesses not regulated the same as you want the unemployed? Both got taxpayer dollars. Why is it easier for you to denigrate the unemployed worker than the big businesses that simply shifted their costs to the taxpayer for higher share prices? Legally, they are the same.

Why do you think the Republicans are going to rein in spending? When they held the White House and Congress, they spent like drunken sailers. Remember Medicare part D, the missing cash in Iraq and Afganistan, the subcontracting of everything to private companies? That didn't start after Jan. 1, 2007. When spending their budgeted revenue, what was their RATE OF RETURN to the nation? The debt went higher during a short recession and "growing" economy, so I doubt it was very far from zero.

As for the cash egg not growing, the Fed's near 0 rate started in Dec 2008, before Obama was inaugurated. Do you honestly think big banks will want to pay any more than necessary to someone of the other 99%?

You can spew all your cute righty tighty talking points, Craigo, but it doesn't make it true, Fact is it's the Republicans who have caused the mess the United States is in, and only an idiot wouldn't be able to see the truth. So show your ignorance, it becomes you.

And the CEO of the world's largest corporation sets under the desk in the oval office with his nose up Obama's pants telling him how to create wealth for a company that not only does not pay any taxes in the US but receives over 3 billion dollars in rebates.

Re: Are your kids going to be red, or blue?

Wouldn't disagree big business works hard to get an advantage, and they certainly have been effective.  But they provide the jobs not the unions or unemployed workers, otherwise we should have booted them out long ago.  The latter provides some of the marketing potential, but certainly aren't a big enough tail to wag the dog.   That assembler admits he is enjoying his multi-year paid vacation and intends to milk the system as long as possible.  Several others have mentioned relatives that are playing also playing the same game.   Wouldn't disagree that recent Republican administrations have over spent, but hope the tea party conservatives have enough influence to dial back the spending.  Medicare Part D was only enacted as a counter measure to the more grandiose/expensive program the Democrats were trumpeting.  Not real hopeful that a Republican can be elected, because too many "voters" have learned to "play" the system and survive OK without working.  Therefore they have a vested interest in keeping liberal administrations feeding them free dollars.   I believe the Fed continues to keep interest rates low, largely to prop up the current White House.  Consequently I can't get enough return to even marginally offset inflation.  Don't for a "New York second" believe the artificially low inflation values the Fed is bantering around, because everything I purchase has significantly increased in price, and this is not just food and energy.  Perhaps I would feel better if in the house market.

Re: Are your kids going to be red, or blue?

"Inflation" doesn't occur until a certain point is past. Non labor costs can keep going up, up, up and businesses can tell their workers that wages aren't going up because the costs are not above x amount. If productivity can keep going up and the top 1% is getting the majority of the returns from it, it's not the workers that are benefiting. Unions try to garner some of these gain from productivity. What is so wrong with that? Why should the entire gain go to those who push paper? What have they risked? Stock options give upper management something that the workers don't have: ownership gains despite outside influence.

Are you for businesses that terminate employees that have breast cancer genes, maternity leave, or family that is going through cancer treatments? If you agree that businesses shouldn't hire the disabled or women of child-bearing age just because of litigation fears, would you do the same? Some say that workers have the freedom to change employers. In this economy with this kind of unemployment numbers, do you really think that is true? Morale is typically lowered when managers tell employees asking for a pay raise, we can always find another to take your place for lower pay.

Calming the masses is what is keeping this country from looking like Syria or Egypt. Government money is being spent this way, but big business tycoons are getting the returns. Are you agreeing that this country is becoming more dependent on a few people to lead behind the scenes? Aren't they the bigger clear and present danger? Agree that some unions have gone too far and created their own industry's demise in the past, but the pendulum has swung too far to the power of the management today.
