Re: Are your kids going to be red, or blue?

That rising tide that will raise all ships will not happen under reaganomics or tr[publican'tnomics. It will only happen with the help of global warming. because reaganomic was voodoo economics and will not do a **bleep** thing for the middle class.

You would think that simple observation and what has happened to our society, the haves and the havenots should be apparent to any logical thinker. Circumstance are not getting better for most americans and it isn't because of Obama. We have been on this downward spiral since 1980 when the repubs declared war on the middle class and the working class.

They adore the invester class and big business and hold working class folks in disdain. That's a fact Jack!

Re: Are your kids going to be red, or blue?

Certainly big business, CEO's and upper management are screwing the consumer!  Amazing that they can be showing record profits in a recession.  Obviously are squeezing out every cent possible and lavishing rewarding themselves.  But allowing the public sector unions to maintain above average benefits and wages isn't going to change the situation and certainly isn't going to help marginal wage earners like my son, that despite a two year degree is working for much less than a union laborer holding up a traffic sign.  Many like him in the private sector and they shouldn't be expected to pay higher taxes for public union largess.  Wouldn't deny the unions have made major contributions, I just believe unions should be restricted to the private sector and not allowed to hold the public hostage.  Don't like these free trade deals which are certainly moving jobs off-shore.  Can't see how throwing more money for retraining is going to offset this job loss.  Just another guise to continue unemployment.  Know an production assembler that finally ran thru the maximum unemployment benefits and then began taking classes for a two year business administration degree.  So two more years of government support and a degree that will have limited use because he has no experience.  Don't have many answers, but do know my cash "nest egg" is taking a severe beating by this administration's socialistic bent.  The Republicans certainly leave a lot to be desired, but perhaps could rein in some of the insane spending.   Also believe if  the chronically unemployed are too comfortable, they aren't motivated to change the circumstances.  They shouldn't starve, but are they entitled to costly fresh fruit and vegetables?  Free cell phones with texting? Should they have costly unlimited health care?  I don't believe government should be responsible for be providing the same benefits that the working class enjoys.   If you  believe these benefits are justified, then support them with donations..

Re: Are your kids going to be red, or blue?

I have to agree with James22.  A little of Ed goes a very long way for me.   If one did not know better you would swear that Schultz, Beck and Rush were all identical clones who always whine and complain for money.   Only difference is Ed switched from a staunch right winger to staunch left winger when his radio career as a right wing radio talk show host was threatened by a new right winger in town who was getting better ratings then Ed.

GTO, your signature lines are perfect when talking about good old Ed.

A wise man changes his mind, a fool never!
Never has so much, been given so few, that needed it the least, that bitch the most!

Ed was wise to flip flop 180 degrees politically and change his mind on all the major issues that divide Repubs and Dems.   Or else he would still be working at some small time radio station doing ads for the local car dealer.

Did you ever think GTO that many of your heroes like Schultz, Maddow, and Olbermann are in that top 1% wage earners.  Ask them if they voluntarily pay more in taxes since they are so stinking rich.   Ask them how much they donate to the needy or volunteer for worth while causes to help out those less fortunate.

While watching the video of Ted Kennedy railing against rich greedy Repubs that do things that are in there own interest as opposed to what is good for mankind made me recall one of Ted's do as say and not as I do moments.

Ted Kennedy Wants Windmills Killed

Self-proclaimed alternative energy proponent Sen. Ted Kennedy has strongly opposed an environmentally friendly "wind farm” off the coast of Massachusetts

The Cape Wind Project would erect 130 windmills in Nantucket Sound and could provide three-fourths of the power needed by Cape Cod and nearby islands, which is now largely supplied by coal-fired plants.

Sure I'm for it.  Just not in my back yard.  Us rich people don't want to see windmills while taking a break at our very expensive vacation homes.   Put them in some poor guy's back yard.

Re: Are your kids going to be red, or blue?

Have you considered that your sone and others like him are underpaid due the suppression of wages and benefits for the working class. Need I remind you as to the last decades of inflationary prices wages simply have not kkept up. The union with government contract have kept up with inflation or nearly so, So perhaps that is what good the unions do. Representing their people to provide a fairer shake in the market place.

I would be interest in knowing how this administrations socialist bent has shrunk yourcash "nest egg"? Just what policy that Obama has put through diminished your nest egg.

My nest egg is doing quite well and has not been damaged at all. BTW unemployment benefits are not a gift.
