Aren't we lucky?
Two weeks ago we had our roof reshingled due to wind and hail damage. We have been livng in this house ever since the roof was done. Last night my daughters family came to show us the kids and their costume for halloween.
Our son in law came in the door and noticed the smell of gas in the house. He was looking for the leak and found it next to the roof in the attic. Yes a shingle nail had punctured the gas line that was too claose to the roof. Evidently, the house passed the inspection at the time it was built. This not was not the fault of the roofer.
Secondly the roofer seperated the flue on the roof to shingle around the hole. When they reconnected the flue it did not connect in the attic. This flue handled the exhaust from the water heater. This was the roofers fault because they should have known the connection was not right.
In the first place we may have had a gas explosion the blew the house up or we might have been gassed with carbon menoxcide.
Well Neither one happened but you would think that older people would notice air pollution in their own home. Not so!.. Evidently the hearing seeing and memory aren't the only things that decline with age. I guess the smeller does not function well either.
We have the gas man here now repairing the damage. He said that was a bad experience and we are extremely lucky that nothing happened.
Well we are going to fix it and pay for the repair and there will be no legal action in this case. We are simply lucky the nothing bad happened to us.
It will be interesting to compare the gas bill for this month as opposed to the average month.

Re: Aren't we lucky?
Blessed to have a good son-in-law.
And a wind in the right direction at the right time.
Give him a hug Don --- no matter how he votes. 🙂

Curious as to why the furnace is in the attic? No basement?
