Re: Arizona on the brink of extremism

I believe he first met Rep. Giffords at the community college he was attending at the time before being asked to leave school.   Rep. Giffords would go to the college for open community meets every so often and it was at one of these meetings that Loughner asked his weird question, "What is government if words have no meanings?"   Several of his college classmates said he would asked bizarre questions and make weird comments on a daily basis in class causing them consideral concern.

I hope not either. I would rather see her stew in her own juice, and just fade into political history.

Re: Arizona on the brink of extremism

Can't you see that the liberals are behind this? They probably staged the shooting to further their liberal agenda! Did you listen to the presidents speech? The subliminal message was muslim loving, and socialism loving and gun control and increasing taxes and ...........  ! By the way, them 30 round clips sure save alot of reload time. I don't read ollie anymore, but suspect he already beat me to this thought process. We can always count on him for profound well-thought out additions to the dialogue.

Re: Arizona on the brink of extremism

Hi idalivered,

Yeah. Like most things these days, any point to be made gets lost pretty quickly in the ensuing ideological food fight.

Whether anyone is responsible or not the fact remains that it occurred in Arizona which is the heart of whackyland. That is worth noting.

I don't think that Sarah Palin is directly responsible, of course, but I do strongly believe that those folks have to be accountable for inflammatory rhethoric that plays to their true believers but is corrosive to the body politic.

And I'll stand by my original statement that I think it marked to high water mark of her celebrity. Too bad, Howard Dean et al have experienced the same and survived. Move on.

One thing I wish the President had said in his speech was "hey folks, time to can the gun metaphors."

Best, h

You don't live in AZ so you don't have a clue. The article had no BS in it.

Re: Arizona on the brink of extremism

Then what is the reason he specifically targeted the congresswoman. There are other notable Arizonans down there. The governor, senators kyl and McCain. No sir, he picked congressman Gabrielle. He wrote anote that called her a bi**h and said he had been planning this assassination.

This was not a spur of the moment decision. He had been planning it and for some reason this congress woman was the most egregious scoundrel available.
