As we approach one year mark in Ukraine
Macron spent many hours negotiating a peaceful alternative with Putin. What I heard (could be wrong) all Putin wanted was two things: autonomy for ethnic Russians living in the Donbass and guarantees that Ukraine wouldn`t join NATO. If that is correct, those are not unreasonable requests. I mean we want autonomy for Chinese Uyghurs, we pissed around in South Africa 35 yrs ago, we do all sorts of goody two shoes stuff around the world under the guise of equal representation. As far as Ukraine joining NATO, as I understand, Zelinsky didn`t want to touch that hot wire and NATO is an exclusive club, very selective who they let in and Ukraine wasn`t on their guest list.
Putin is a strange duck in that being concerned that NATO would launch on him... but whatever. If he wanted assurances of something that was never going to happen, then by all means give the nuclear super power those assurances to avoid war!
I said from the first Russian salvo to today, this is a blood libel ritualist killing of blonde babies over there, that`s all that`s being accomplished. Putin`s gambit was perhaps to take Kyiv in 3 days and the rest of the country would fall like dominoes and then on to Lithuania and Poland. Had that worked he would`ve looked like a military genius. Dreams have a way of turning into nightmares after that first shot is fired... or the first tank in the convoy runs outta gas.
So, here we are, we`ve spent $100`s of billions and now sending tanks, something the US (Biden) said he would never do. I thought tanks were proven ineffective (by the Russian painful example) on the modern battlefield? Stinger shoulder held weapons make tanks little more than a carnival shooting game. My thought on tanks is after you`ve beaten a nation and during the cleanup, a tank rolling down a street has shock & awe value in getting citizens to disarm. And now fighter jets are next item on Zelinsky`s Christmas list, if that doesn`t antagonize Russia into expanding the bar room brawl into a world war, nothing will. A lotta mission creep happening here.
Just my thoughts here, by stating my opinion will get me called a "surrender monkey" by some and "having romantic relations with Lindsey Graham" by others.... taking on flack is a sign you are over the target.
The guys on the All In pod talk Ukraine at 1:12 :00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwQMMzoeH9s as a bonus David Sacks gives his Lib buddies sh‹t about being wrong on covid shots, on the podcast.

Re: As we approach one year mark in Ukraine
Sane, Responsible Policymakers Should be Looking for Off-Ramp in Ukraine – But They’re Not
The Propaganda machine in lockstep propping this war up as the final battle of ww2 is idiotic, Russia is not a communist nation for starters
Poots thought the west would negotiate a deal, they will not, so they (Russia)appear to end it their way. Does anyone really believe Russia is just gonna give back the territory in the west and Crimea or Ukraine has the capability to re take it .
We hear constantly the Russians are getting their A s s kicked, anyone have the numbers on the Ukrainian Army, have they suffered anything, the media and talking heads would have you believe that they are fighting Russia with one arm tied behind their back just to make fair
So we are going to send 31 "dumb down " tanks Uk 14 and Germany about 20, now some planes, who's going to man them service them and how are they getting there. Now another general says war with China in 25??? We cant even keep good soldiers because of the vaccines and are too busy with pronouns.
Col Douglas McGregor has good insight on this and will at least give you the 30 thousand foot view

Reminder to gentle AG readers:
The exact same, unelected Ivy League wizards currently working in the US State Department, the Pentagon, the CIA, & the NSA who just gave us twenty years of “unbridled hope” and “turning corners” in Afghanistan are also the same yahoos who are now running this latest meaningless American war in Ukraine.
The only difference between Ukraine and Afghanistan, of course, is that this time they are risking (in our name) a nuclear WW III with Russia. The absence of any vital American strategic interest worth fighting for, however, is the same. D*MN!

Re: As we approach one year mark in Ukraine
Yes DW, if we get past the cheerleader warmongers who call anyone talking common sense a "surrender monkey" a compromise identical to what Putin and Macron agreed to a year ago before the first tank rolled into Ukraine may get a second look. It`s a shame all the death and destruction and going back to square one. Biden was too slow helping Ukraine, but now the war could negotiate peace, Biden wants to heat it up with tanks and I almost guarantee fighter jets...next stop we`ll be sending tactical nukes to Ukraine.
Peter Zeihan (one of the few opinions that I heavily respect) said 5 years before Russia attacked that they would (because of shrinking demographics) . Peter says Ukraine is finished (for all intents & purposes) within 10 years and Russia is finished (for all intents and purposes) within 20 years... just simple math on how they have not replaced their populations. Many countries around the world did not have what we in the US call the "millennial generation" so their populations are in collapse. It is really too bad that the few precious people that these countries have, they feel the need to fire bullets at.

Also the same people who brought you Covid fear porn and every hoax in the last 6 years
Must send money and weapons to stop the spread of Russian "aggression" but keep the southern border wide open, yeah that seems about right. It's racist to have a nation with borders, or at least it is here.🤡 world

The idea that sending a tactical nuke to the region and it will stay confined in the region is the last step to Armageddon.
On Peter Z he also said china would be over and collapsed in 2020 he said that in 2010 Why would Russia attack because of shrinking demographics??? Ive got some issues with Pete but that IMO
2014 the same clowns running the State dept are running it now Vicky Nuland etc...they preformed a coup on the Ukrainian govt, why? There was an active war for 8 yrs leading up to this and has been the subject of the region since the 90's. Called the buffer zone

Re: As we approach one year mark in Ukraine
Peter Zeihan say "China won`t survive this decade" however you have to put into context, 1 billion population in demographic collapse won`t "Poof!" disappear in 7 years, they will just be much, much less relevant. China over counted their population by 100 million, each woman has 1.6 children (2,1 bare minimum for replacement) China no longer lowest cost labor, they have to import 70% of their energy and much of their food. China went from rural to urban in one generation (accounting for the "ghost cities") . China is running out of things they can do to make a living in the world. And we haven`t talked about their massive debt.

If there was any "good" coming out of the Ukraine invasion is China sees how futile attacking Taiwan would be for them ie world sanctions ect that they could ill afford.

Re: As we approach one year mark in Ukraine
Check history BA and you will find that the Russia started the war with Ukraine in 2014 by occupying and then 'annexing' parts of Ukraine.
Now if you look a little more you will find Russia involved in wars in Georgia, Moldova and others but the Ukraine conflict is the longest and what Russia did last February was the result of inaction by other countries to punish Russia for it's previous invasions.
A few boycotts did little to stop them in the past and so we now have Ukraine standing up to them and many countries supporting Ukraine with weapons.
If Russia is not stopped now it is only a matter of time before the next country is invaded.
Poland and a few other countries closer to the war understand it better than lots of people in NA.
Look at history not just the present action and consider what might have been if more action had been taken when Georgia or the beginning of the Ukraine invasion had happened.

Re: As we approach one year mark in Ukraine
I agree Canuck, however perhaps Russia is softened up enough and Putin realizes how his mistakes that if offered a "golden off ramp" he hopefully would take it? Maybe one of the original year old agreements he and Macron proposed a year ago would now be palatable? I would find an agreement more common sense than throwing more money, more body bags, flirt with nuclear exchange with the only other less worse scenario being throw the kitchen sink at it only to fight to a draw 5 years from now.

Re: As we approach one year mark in Ukraine
To me it is absolutely amazing to see the sheep following where ever the Judas Goat leads them.
I never figured that any of the ones posting here had any brains, and that is to be expected, but you would think we would see a higher percentage exodus on a national basis than what we have seen so far.
Sure Bill Mahr, Tulsi Gabbard, Glen Greenwald, JHK, etal is a decent start but seriously....what kind of kool aid do the bulk of these fuchers drink?
