Re: At last...verifiable victim of Obamacare

How long would you have private insurance without paying premiums? What is unique about obama care. The subsidy which makes it easier to pay the premiums?

Re: At last...verifiable victim of Obamacare

I have had private insurance take effect 'immediately', instead of having to wait for payment, before coverage started.   I don't know why Obamacare is different, but it is.

What is unique about Obamacare, is that if you missed the enrollment this spring, the next enrollment doesn't start until November.   That would be 7 months or more without coverage.

It was right there, in the article.

Also, not everyone qualifies for the subsidy, about half the States have an income gap, where low income people qualify for neither Obamacare, nor Medicaid, sticking them with either no insurance, or insurance at higher rates.

Are You saying that people that ear enought afford health insurance and choose not to buy it, that we are obligated to buy it for them?

How about the guys that earn enough but prefer to buy motorcycles, rifles, hand guns, boats campers instead? Should government subsidize them?

Re: At last...verifiable victim of Obamacare

No, what I am saying, is that in about half the States, there are people who have higher insurance rates, and get no subsidy, because their income is too LOW to qualify for the Obamacare subsidy, while at the same time, make too much, to qualify for Medicaid.

The ones who need the help the most (low income people who can't get medicaid) are the ones who are hurt the most.   Their premiums went up, and they get zero subsidy to help them out.

Isn't it ironic, that someone who makes $55K gets a nice, fat Obamacare subsidy, while someone with an identical famly dynamic, but who only makes $25K, would get zero subsidy?    Isn't it even more ironic, is that if that same person were to work only part time, and make $15K, they'd get free coverage, through Medicaid?  How is that supposed to encourage low income people to stay at work, and try to better themselves?
