What are the usual celebrations that happen 'down under'?

Maybe barbeque something that "tastes like chicken"?
[simply a vague reference to "Crocodile Dundee" movie]

Re: Australia Day
From Google --
Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales, and raising of the Flag of Great Britain at that site by Governor Arthur Phillip

Hey bill. They had massive celebrations in Sydney's beautiful harbour. Swimming and boat races, a ballet performed by tug boats with singing and dancing from an aircraft carrier piped through speakers all over the harbour. We had thousands of immigrants from all over the world naturalised as citizens, all our local heroes who served the community were recognised with letters after their name, and the Australian of the year is a lady who had her child killed by her husband who has dedicated her life to stopping domestic violence. She deserves it. I spent the day visiting friends and my sick mother who is ninety.
I will basically ignore those fools above with their ignorant pathetic attempts to ridicule us. I have been throttling them for some time now and those comments are indicative of their ordinary attempts to lay a glove on me. I am amazed at their stupidity and ignorance. Yet again. They like mollie are an embarrassment.

Re: Australia Day
Sounds like a pleasant day.
Always nice to hae a holiday when the weather is nice.
Hope your mother is doing well, we won't all see that many years and think of the changes she has seen.
BTW did you try for a look at the asteroid that zipped past a few hours ago?
They said Australia was one of the best places to see it from.

Re: Australia Day
I never heard or saw anything about asteroids so I guess I missed it. But there will probably be something on the news tonight. It is a lot cooler here today and I am pleased I am not in NY. Been there done that. They can have it.
