BCS mess

Well, my Wildcats got bumped from the BCS despite a #8 ranking in the standings. Worse, they'll play an Arkansas team in the Cotton Bowl now that finished up the year ranked #6 in the BCS! So, a couple of teams that feal fairly slighted by the BCS will get after it!

How'd your team end up? Anybody taking a winter vacation to head to a bowl game?

3-8
But beat toilet bowl bound Hawkeyes. I don't listen to Don Imus. Does anybody know if he has mentioned anything about the boys from Rutgers?

Re: BCS mess

The solution is for K_State to kick their butt.

The BCS definitely is biased towards the SEC. Plowing your way through the schedule in the Big 10, the big12 and the Pac 10 just doesn't have the repect of playing in the SEC.

In the end, Alabama will have two losses and OSU will have one and the pollsters will still be claiming Alabama is number two. K-State is  a very solid team and is worthy of a BCS bowl. If it had been Texas or OU with that record they would have earned a slot in a BCS game.

I'm going to watch OSU win their bowl game and award them the national championship. I'm going to avoid the SEC conference game on January 9th. I'm urging everyone to not show up for that game and tell the advertisers, "we are not watching!" Heh  heh!  There is more than one way to skin a cat.

Re: BCS mess

Iowa going to a bowl is laughable. They have pretty much proven they don't belong there. IT's more about filling the stadium and the hotel rooms than production on the field.

Re: BCS mess

Don. I'm sure you have been hearing it for over a month now but there has been a solution all along to OSU's problems in not getting to the big game. BEAT IOWA STATE!

Re: BCS mess

It has always been that way. Follow the money.

Re: BCS mess

I think there's a broader analogy to be drawn about politics, public policy etc.

The NCAA is a political bureacracy (like that's news).

When polical bureacracies look to create black box systems that are intended to cure any possible charge of subjectivity, the outcome is even more bizzarre than if it were to be subjectively decided.

Re: BCS mess

Former KU athletic director went to Florida a few years ago and began passing money around and VIOLA KU got a BCS bowl bid. That is how you get bowl bids.

BCS wants out of the bowl business except for the 1 VS 2 game. How the Fiesta Bowl was able to keep its non-profit status with their actions is the prime example of how corrupt college athletics is today.

BTW the NCAA no longer has anything to do with the bowls.

Congrats on KSU's storybook season. But if all the eyes, human/cattle, in Kansas were tuned into a bowl it wouldn't put enough eyes on the TV to satisfy the networks.

After UT, OU & OSU signed a pledge to stay in the Big 12 they went out and tried to elope with the PAC 12. Whether it was better football or just distain for the greed and treachery, they were told not-so-politely NO THANKS. Missouri bolted after Nebraska, Colorado & Texas A&M left because the conference is on life support. KSU, ISU & KU are orphans and when UT and their buddies get antsy again they will be left hanging in the wind. MU tried to move to the Big 10 when UT and the old SWC cheaters showed up hat in hand at the Big 8's door. They saw the writing on the wall way back then. Sad as the Big 8 was the best conference in the country at the time. Ask all the SEC teams which the Big 8 beat regularly in the old bowl games.
