Re: Bagged RINO

Hey Bruce, if you look at how politics have changed in 30 years, when Reagan was in. Back then even the most liberal politician would have chortled at the idea of gay marriage, now it`s front and center with even some Republican support. Back when Reagan granted amnesty, it was to 3 million, today it`s at least 5 times more on a already strained and broken safety net. If you`ve heard Collin Powell lately, there is no difference between him and a liberal Democrat. This is why the country is in the mess it`s in, Republicans have been acting like Democrats and Democrats been acting like liberal Democrats.

Re: Bagged RINO

Bruce, how come you never share the really funny stuff...on the same page as where you found the clip on Reagan being a Rino, there was one of Obama telling his followers that there were Mexicans here long before America was even an Idea.

WHich is pretty strange since the USA was declared in 1776, and Mexico in 1821 I think. Check it out.

And share some of the good stuff, man. Don't just bogart the anti-republican stuff.

Is that BTO farmer that you are so jealous of, a brother in law, btw?

Back when you and the mrs. had the $100,000 salaries, and the Farmer in-law was losing money, it was a lot more fun at the reunions, right?

Winks.

Re: Bagged RINO

People live there before the state is established, the conquistadors were here 16-17 century, New Spain in Florida to the Caribbean, California, Texas to Colorado , then a progression of different republics and dictatorships called Mexico, the people, regardless of state we may identified them with, were there building cities and mining silver, dealing furs, teaching the locals about slavery and Christianity, a few hundred years before 1776.

Re: Bagged RINO

Quick history of "Mexican " usage:

used to represent inhabitants of the city Mexica Tenochtitlan (Now Mexico City)

in 1810, used to represent the inhabitants of the  breakaway state from Spain

in 1821, used to represent the newly formed republic of Mexico

USA revolution in 1776.

Hope this helps.

Re: Bagged RINO

Do you question that the center of the Republican Party today is to the right of RR?

However I'm sure that the current high priests of the movement have channelled RR and understand that he was only playing along with the socialists of the Great Generation as was necessary.

A lot of good historians have struggled to understand what Reagan really did think.

As I've said many times, I think he'd be rolling over in his grave knowing that people actually beleived the stuff from the grand bluff that ended the Cold War.

Re: Bagged RINO

Nox, Reagan was pretty adept at changing to accommodate his crowd. I saw that the first time he was asked about his opinions on evolution. At the time, I thought that was firm ground to stand on, and that everyone in America except for a nutty fringe would acknowledge the evidence and recognize it.

Reagan hee hawed around the subject and said something to the effect that there was evidence for it, and evidence against it, and probably let people believe whatever it was they wanted to believe. Very political.

Later, I realized that he was playing to the Christian fundamentalist crowd that was trying to take evolutionary science out of the HS textbooks.  It was a political force that he was well aware of.

I think a Reagan would do pretty well at any time, in any place. Just like a Bill Clinton. Very good politicians, and very good at changing.

I think this is what differentiates them from a Barry Obama...for some reason ( and some are speculating now that it is because of Michelle Obama) he is not changing to fit the needs of America. Obama is trying to radicalize the country, and doesn't seem to get the backlash. Not like a Reagan or a Clinton would.

And if you think about it, outside of his marxist father, where would Obama be getting his world views from, if not from the pillow talk with his wife? And who led him to that church that hates America? Wasn't that Michelle's church?

Re: Bagged RINO

So, by your measure there were no people in Mexico until some politicians established their state and named it Mexico?
