Re: Been mumbling about this since the '92 campaign

The progressive movement has always been about building a highly structured society that serves the needs of the elite.

Perhaps so, when seen as describe therein,.

But no, not "always".  Furthest thing from the minds of those who would have first defined themselves as so.  But always vulnerable to capture and co-option to high heaven, I suppose.  No shortage of that in this nation's political pool.

You read that danged quick, BTW.

It's what I have always said about progressives, they don't want to fix the economy or the country, they want power and are willing to destroy anyone or anything that gets in their way. That's why they have to paint the filthy thumpin baggers as extremist worse than the taliban. You can not have progressives and morality in the same society, one has to win out over the other.

You obviously didn't read the article, or decided to ignore it? This is the most telling paragraph in the article.

"The Progressive Movement that exists today is their success story.  The Democratic elite created  a mirror image of the type of astroturf front groups and think tanks long ago invented, funded and promoted by the Reaganites and the Koch brothers.  The liberal elite own the Progressive Movement.  Organizing for Action, the “non-partisan” slush fund to train the new leaders of the Progressive Movement is just the latest big money ploy to consolidate their control and keep the feed flowing into the trough."

Did you catch that? "mirror image" of astroturf "front groups", promoted by, "Reaganites, and the Koch brothers".

So what's good for the goose is good for the gander, trouble is, the Republicans have a bunch of extremist baggage groups, that are going to be the death of them.

I read the Synopsis.

You don't think the robber barons created all those progressive foundations to challenge the position of the elite do you?

We didn't paint you that way, dummy, your party has done that all by themselves, we've just made sure America knows it!!

You can not have progressives and morality in the same society, one has to win out over the other. Are you nuts? We are a center, left country, progressive and moral is America!

You don't know what you're talking about, neither does the author.  The wealthy funded advocacy groups long before Reagan was even born.

Re: Been mumbling about this since the '92 campaign

The point that you missed, or as Dale says probably didn't miss as you weren't very likely to have read it all,  is that what the extremists who are guiding the GOP currently do to themselves that allow these DINOs to do what they do in terms of ammassing power also allows them to move ever more and more to the right and still get non-suspecting Democrat leaning and centrist voters to vote for them and not ask questions.

Check out the part about Pelosi, if you do decied to read it all, seeing to it that the Iraq War remain funded so that the party could then run against the war in 06 and 08.

The thing about Koch industries is they create a lot of high paying union jobs here in the US. But the progressives have to destroy them because they have a conservative view. The progressives don't care how many high paying union jobs they destroy along with them.
