Being Honest about G HW Bush

He went back on his campaign promise "no new taxes" and lost the momentum that Reagan had created, split the party in two, and allowed the Clintons to smell up the USA with their stench.

Reagan never wanted the Bush's to get power, and Reagan was right.

Re: Being Honest about G HW Bush

HW Bush was a good Democrat, all this "compromise and reach across the aisle"...that all sounds good, but you won`t find a similar Democrat.  Like with Obamacare, out of power Republicans were invited to "come and watch and vote for it" and basically share the blame and GTO went "Har Har Har".

I think the problem is, the Democrat base these days are so childish that stomping the opposition rallies them. As many years of examples of these we`ve had, there`s still Jeff Flakes and Romneys out there....vegetarians in a carnivorous political world.

Re: Being Honest about G HW Bush

Flake has this childish notion that he is going to somehow end up on the POTUS 2020 ticket and that good people from both red states and blue states are going to vote for him and fulfill his childish dreams.

Flake has about as much chance of becoming the next president as I do...wish he would understand that and stop his antics.

Simplistic analysis, ignoring the long game.

GHWB's enormous contribution to our current and reigning fascist coalition of the wealthy plus ignorant and superstitious white people was locked in by his son.

They pivoted from Rush throwing the old man under the bus to Shrub being Rush's perfect candidate.

Because the people putting up the money couldn't care less, they just need to get their puppets elected.

Re: Being Honest about G HW Bush

both Bush's were more adept at running for office than occupying the office.

How on earth did Papa Bush go from an 89 percent approval rating in January of 1991 to a 29 percent approval rating in July 1992?

Pretty unbelievable in retrospect.

Re: Being Honest about G HW Bush

Not hard to understand- he got pinched from both the right and the left- a distinct foreboding of the destruction of the center that was to come with the end of the Cold War.

But obviously the right was the more important factor since they've carried the day, at least to this point.

But they have no responsibility for what hasn't gone well.

Re: Being Honest about G HW Bush

The right has all of the responsibility for what hasn't gone well. They have controlled the house and senate but refused to cut spending and secure the border. Now they lose the house. They should. They don't care. They are for the chamber of ILLEGAL aliens not the American people. They would have lost the senate if not for justice Kavanaugh. The left simply couldn't hide their crazy.

Also,

entirely understandable how blue-blood Yale Skull and Bones CIA ultimate insiders from WWII and the Cold War wouldn't possibly recognize that they might be screwing their country, at least in part.

If not directly, then absolutely through their children who were weaponized for it.
