Book burners out in force

snip-

Thursday’s theatrical performance of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” at W.R. Castle Elementary School in rural Johnson County, Kentucky will be bereft of its heart and soul because a single whiner has scared school district officials into censoring all references to religion.

The main scene which will be deleted involves Linus van Pelt reciting a handful of verses from the New Testament’s Gospel of Luke to explain to Charlie Brown “what Christmas is all about.”

Castle Elementary principal Jeff Cochran — whose “principal’s message page says “Insert text here!” — has announced that anything related to Christianity will be completely scrubbed from the play, reports the Lexington Herald-Leader.

And what is it the book burners find soooooo offensive?

snip-

Linus walks with his blanket to the center of a stage in an adult-less auditorium where several Peanuts characters — and Snoopy — have gathered. As a spotlight shines upon him, Linus quotes from the second chapter of Luke:

“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and goodwill towards men.”

“And that’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown,” Linus concludes, after picking up the blanket which he had symbolically drops right after he says, “Fear not.”

Congratulation progressives you win again. Next will be to remove all references of Almighty God written into our founding documents by our founding fathers.

Get a dictionary. That has absolutely nothing to do with Progressivism. It's overzealous liberalism. Much of it stupid and terribly distracting from important matters that require serious attention But something people can base their votes upon and courts can rule for or against. In this case it could be addressed in a school board election. It actually could be that this would be the popular choice in that community. I doubt that ever enters your mind. But absolutely nothing to do with any classical Progressive agenda.

It is main stream progressive liberalism. The heart of the democrat party. Extremist.

Re: Book burners out in force

Do you fools not know what "freedom of religion" means?  I thought you had the Constitution tattooed on your forehead!!! You cannot give the appearance of promoting ANY single religion in a school.  It is the law and is morally and ethically the way it should be.  Oh drat it!  I forgot, you always cherry pick the Constitution for the parts that go your way!

Re: Book burners out in force

That is the way it is when you have a public school which is not suppose to support or teach any religion.

How would like it if the school taught or promoted Muslim religion.

But don't feel too bad, when our kids were in school they had to srub the Christmas Conceet because one or two families objected to celebrating Christmas.

BTW they actually were quite religious themselves, so much that they believed it was wrong to celebrate christmas even though they believed in one of the Christian gods but of course their god did not allow celebrations like that.

Interesting that it was 'real believers' that cut the christmas concert not those of us who have no reason to think there is any god.

The school went ahead with a 'WINTER' concert and had no reference to any religion.

Surprising how many "CHRISTMAS" songs do not reference any religion so the choir had a good show with several skits, no religion required.

We under stand Canuck. It called book burners. Of course Bruce says you're just a stupid over zealous liberal distracting from important matters that require serious attention. It is really just the intolerance of progressives. Progressives can't tolerate competition with their Almighty Big Government so religion has to be destroyed.

Christians: The Liberals' greatest competition for the heart and soul of the World. Without a doubt, Third Way Sociologist Parliamentary Utopianism is a secular humanist political religion. It has it's own saints (like FDR, Martin Luther King Jr., JFK, Karl Marx), it's own miracles (Food Stamps and Welfare which parallel the Loaves and Fishes; The famous Liberal Bleeding Heart parallels the Christian Stigmata); it has its own beatified celebrities (Princess Diana and JFK Jr.), and most importantly it has its own apostles (like the Leftist media writer-pundit types and the Teachers' Unions) who spread the Gospel of Liberalism every day in every informational venue.

Obviously Christians and Christianity get in the way of this Holy Crusade. Not just because they make Liberal Moral Relativism look bad, but mostly because they compete with Liberalism for the control of the Public Mind. There are no two more diametrically opposed social/spiritual perspectives, and each wants to dominate the entire planet.

To win this battle, Liberals must forcibly eject Christians and Christianity from the schools and every other public place so that Liberalism can fill the subsequent vacuum. Christians must be insulted and reviled at every opportunity as dangerous gun-toting superstition-driven extremists dedicated to bridging the separation between Church and State, shoving their values down the throats of The People. Even God must be demonized. The Liberal agenda must be taught in the schools in order to wholly take over the affairs of State and governance. Christianity must be destroyed. (Note: Black Christianity is 99% Multicultural Liberalism, and therefore immune to the intense hatred reserved for White Christianity)
