Booooook Banning!!
https://www.newsweek.com/kirk-cameron-50-libraries-havent-accepted-book-story-time-1765421
snip:
Kirk Cameron is claiming that public libraries nationwide have not taken up his offer to host story time for his new faith-centered children's book, As You Grow.
Cameron starred in the sitcom Growing Pains in the 1980s and early '90s before becoming a well-known Christian conservative activist. Some on social media are speaking in support of Cameron and his book, while others have shared posts that are critical of the actor.
Fox News reported on Wednesday that As You Grow—which "celebrates family, faith and biblical wisdom"—won't be able to "reach scores of American children or their families in many U.S. cities." Cameron's publisher, Brave Books, told that outlet of rejections and non-responses from more than 50 public libraries.
Fox also noted that some libraries opting against featuring Cameron have played host to so-called drag-queen story hours.
The actor previously told Fox News Digital about the book in a separate article.
"As Bibles are literally being removed from schools and libraries—and as Christianity, and faith, and the Ten Commandments are being taken out of schools and replaced with toxic ideas like transgenderism, CRT and the 1619 project, I'm looking to fight back," he reportedly said.

Re: Booooook Banning!!
That pesky Separation Clause.
I’m certain that you can get this hard bound “tract” on the shelves of every privately funded school and library in the land.
Don’t Thump on my secular Democracy, thank you very much.
Your discretion is starting to erode severely. Having an increase in difficulty finding a real time audience so auditioning for a more radical spot on the Team Batshlt roster here?

Re: Booooook Banning!!
You don't seem to have a problem with book banning in general, so why get in an uproar about this? If we want our children to learn about the bible from school libraries, perhaps we should send them to parochial schools instead of public schools? And perhaps if someone is concerned about their child not having access to this book, they should go out and buy the darn thing for them, and when they are finished, give the book to another child in great need of Christian wisdom from an actor. Just because a school library won't carry it hardly means they can't access it.

Re: Booooook Banning!!
Promoting pseudo medical advice by indoctrinating children that it`s okay to question their gender is more harmful than a story hour telling kids "not to engage in school shootings, steal, take drugs". If they don`t want to hear Kirk read that to them, they are free to walk out of the library and "buy 8-balls" (whatever 8-balls are?) . But a lot of this "Negroes got it so bad and see the hairy drag queen? go up there and touch `her` monkey!" is mandatory, kids gotta listen and probably "pass a test" on it.

Re: Booooook Banning!!
Knapper, I would be totally on board with just teaching kids to read and let them buy or checkout books that they want. However, I don`t recall "adult books" in the school library, I mean back in the 80`s catching a nipple slip of a native woman in National Geographic was our "big thrill" or Gray`s Anatomy cross section of the female body was about it. Beyond that, there is/was/should be boundaries of decency & common sense that is getting more "uncommon" today.

Re: Booooook Banning!!
When I was talking about a stance on banned books, I was more thinking about these type of commonly banned books:
- The Color Purple by Alice Walker. ...
- The Great Gatsby by F. ...
- I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou. ...
- Lord of the Flies by William Golding; E. M. Forster (Introduction by) ...
- Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. ...
- One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey. ...
- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
As for books on gender, I think maybe the same advice I gave about the book you mentioned would be appropriate.

Re: Booooook Banning!!
Knapper, in the 1980s none of those great books were banned (unless some backwater burg) ... I`ve read some of them. And don`t forget to add Huckleberry Finn to your list. However, I wouldn`t be shocked if To Kill a Mockingbird won`t one day be banned for "not being woke enough". But, these do-it-yourself books on weird "self gratification" pushed by deviants who want to rewrite history in the case of CRT or bring more fresh meat into the orgy do justify banning or this nation is strictly a sundowner.

Re: Booooook Banning!!
I think that a normal inquisitive high school kid can handle any of knappers books and turn out just fine.
on the other hand, whatever the tourettes twins were reading that has left them so twisted probably SHOULD be banned.
can you imagine having a life so devoid of substance and meaning that you get off by saying something offensive in a agriculture chat room? seriously?
day after effing day?
It's kind of what I say about Karaoke.....I enjoy belting out a few songs now and then with my wife and friends in a controlled environment, especially the CCR songs, and Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Bob Seger....you know the guys that are like me and cannot really sing.....but I tell people that when I start doing that in public, to take away my car keys.
Well, someone should probably take away the keys for nutz and emmanuel.
Just saying.
