Re: Bringing wehav's Blaze bit to the top
The thing is this: The NRA is doing no real favors for legitimate, sane gun owners with their stance on the issue. Sooner or later, the situation with guns is going to come to a head and the American people will demand action. Gun owners need to really think about this road they are happily traveling with the NRA. Consider that fewer people hunt than ever before in history. Hunting gun owners have been a traditional backbone of the NRA, but times have changed. People are becoming more and more concerned with personal protection, but I also think the newest generation (not YOUR generation, understand) are less and less interested in firearms in general and see them as a problem or associated with crime. So, what happens when there becomes a time when a significant part of our population, a big enough part of our population to elect someone to Congress or the presidency, no longer owns guns or sees them as a problem? The whole of the US isn't the Midwest or the South that grew up firing guns for fun mind you. Culture changes.
So, meanwhile in this time of change the NRA remains a concrete sculpture, incapable of change or adapting. So what will be the result of an unresponsive NRA and a growing population of folks who sees guns as something crooks own? Gun laws, that's what and knee-jerk gun laws at that.
The NRA is not your long-term friend folks. They are here to support arms and ammunition makers - businesses. You are a second thought. They should be pushing to improve background checks and keep guns out of the hands of people who should never own or have access to firearms. They should be pushing for laws that protect legitimate ownership, and screen who should have access to firearms, but they just keep doing what they do and fool everyone into thinking any law is a bad law.
There is no need for your comments. I know where I stand on this in this forum. All I am saying is that creating responsible laws is far better than the alternative or letting the dice roll. And the dice will roll, wait and see.

Re: Bringing wehav's Blaze bit to the top
The reality is every murder was illegal.
There are literally thousands of laws regarding guns already. There are multiple restrictions that are completely ignored by lawless people. Only law abiding people obey any of the multitude of stupid, restrictive laws.
More laws will only make ignorant, subservient people feel better and restrict innocent law abiding gun owners to no point.
The democrat/liberal shooting galleries will continue.

Re: Bringing wehav's Blaze bit to the top
The last time that the National Socialist Demokrat Partei tried to push the demise of the Second Amendment of the US Constitution, the electorate decided to remove a fair amount of their members from elected office.
What part of "shall not be infringed ", do you not understand ?

We need to start gun control by the secret service disarming and the white house turned into a gun free zone.
I wonder what caused this latest killer to single out Christians? And why did he want to be like the black gay guy that killed the reporter and camera man? Was this monster a drug user, prescription or illegal? Did he spend hours playing violent video games?

Knapper; Your post reminded me about reading the history of your NRA.
A quick Google found this which is similar to what I remember reading about the NRA from the past. The NRA which was in favour of gun controls apparently.

I think the first I read about its history was in an article in Canadain media trying to explain why your country has a love affair with guns and so many people killed by guns compared to other modern countries.

Re: Bringing wehav's Blaze bit to the top
On the timing of that...wondering if anyone else here got the free gun training that was offered to us in our school when we were in jr high school. I recall taking a bus along with my classmates to the Armory in a neighboring town. 25 or so early teens on a school bus, each with his own rifle on board. Some cased, some not. Safety training and target practice. I have no idea who sponsored it, but those dates are intriquing. This would have been in '61 or '62.

At that moment in time, that was the safest school bus in the State of Minnesota . 🙂
