Re: Burger King moving to Canada for cheaper taxes.

Democrats have touted that corporations don't pay enough in taxes, so they jack up corporate tax. Corporations move to countries with less taxes, democrats complain. Whose at fault here? New York is now lowering their corporate taxes to woo companies back as is Illinois. Have they learned their lesson?

Re: Burger King moving to Canada for cheaper taxes.

Sorry I didn't read the article first.  Took the post title to be accurate (big mistake).  If you read more than the tax numbers Horton's is a Canadian company already doing business in this country and Burger King is acquiring them with a joint headquarters in Canada specifically to avoid US taxes.  But they are not moving their corporate headquarters there.  Their taxes must be very complicated.  But then cheating the American people never is simple.  Note I said people not government.  Because that is who these wealthy tax dodgers actually cheat.

Re: Burger King moving to Canada for cheaper taxes.

What amazes me is the folks that applaud the tax avoiders as if a reduction in their taxes guarantees a reduction in your taxes. Quite the contrary. Anytime some one else "gets a get out of taxes free clause" it increases the debt and the probability of you taxes being raised.

The one thing that really ticks me off is those tax firms that brag about settling tax bills for pennies on the dollar. As if that is a responsible way to share tax burden.

Who lnow, If clavin bundy would pay his **bleep** rent maybe our tax bill would decline a nickle.

Do you really think those that want to improve wages and benefits for low income folks want us all to be broke together?

I am not applauding them. The chickens came home to roost, now everyone feigns suprise and anger when companies make business decisions that will affect their bottom line. Or should they choose to lose money for the sake of the country?

Nobody expects them to lose money. However, people do  believe in shared responsibility and if i was the decision maker they would pay dearly for this move.

Capitalism. We can't pay you more because it would limit our OUTRAGEOUS PROFITS.

Re: Burger King moving to Canada for cheaper taxes.

How come you are allowed to make decisions that will increase your bottom line but corporations must be punished? If you want them to stay lower the tax rate and remain competitive at least within in our hemisphere. If you want to tax the crap out of them, don't blame the if they can move to a lower tax country. Are you upset when a state gives tax breaks to attract a company away from other states?

Re: Burger King moving to Canada for cheaper taxes.

ECIL  your tag line kind of says it all.  America should be let's all be well off and comfortable together.  But for several decades a small fraction is saying some of us have it all and who cares about the rest of you.

There is so much that has contributed to this including simply a changing world but Americans need to start working together for all Americans and get back to being the land of opportunity

Dairy Mom, we HAD a chance to "work together" and be rah-rah siss-boom-bah patriotic, that was with John McCain back in `08.   Out last...literally our last chance to find workable solutions to this mess was with Mitt Romney back in 2012.  But the door for being united has all but slammed shut.....AND don`t you dare blame us Ringwinger extremists for that!  Just look at your Detroit and Ferguson, Missouri THAT is covered with the fingerprints of socialism!!!!!

Rome is burning and I don`t give a crap...I already have to borrow money to pay income taxes...what more do they want from me, for Christ sakes???   If we were all damned dumb enough to work our tails of and transfer our wealth evenly to the rest of the country and Obama and the Democrats were hailed as success and great monuments were erected to their profound wisdom.  They would only use their political capital to take my guns away and increase the mindless regulations on the people.

Burger King is going"John Galt" and good for them, I hope they are the first of many.

Re: Burger King moving to Canada for cheaper taxes.

Borrowing money to pay taxes? The way it is done is to set aside part of your income as it comes in to settle the tax burden. Spending it all or over spending is the same strategy that government uses. I guess you are no better than government that you despise.

I suppose uyou want government to tax you less so you have to borrow less. Time to be a grownup BA and learn some common sense.
