Canary in the Coalmine.

Even if Lamb ran as a republican and squeaked out a 600 vote win, it is still a win if it holds up. Republicans had better re-energize their troops to prevent a return to the socialist trajectory.

Lots of very scary stuff in this commentary by the ever cerebral and astute Patrick Buchanan. Just before St. Patrick's Day, too.

Re: Canary in the Coalmine.

You guys are funny.

When you drove the RINOs to extinction, did you not think that someone was going to retake that ground?

BTW, that's ground that the majority of people in those suburban districts inhabit. What a novel idea- actually representing your constituents rather than energizing enough to vote against their own interests.

The polls have been a canary in the coalmine for some time but, yeah, I know, Rasmussen.

New Trump is going to be even Trumpier than the old one.

Dem won by making a hard right move and pretending to be Trump. I call that a move in the right direction.

I take great comfort knowing that the graveyard whistling chorus hasn't missed a beat.

Pat

is a likeable fellow and he had his moment as an iconoclast to GOP orthodoxy. But it always fit into the larger scheme- the decline in the relative status of certain classes of workers was on account of those furriners and the domestic traitors- nuthin' at all to do with the decline of unions and quantum shift of power to corporations and the wealthy.

But in general, making a living as a halfway honest pundit is a sorry life. Once you've staked out your territory you're pretty well stuck.

I was thinking about Kathleen Parker who is a very good writer, and pretty darn conservative. Objectively she's way smarter and as far as looks, charm and wit is way out of the league of any of the Pundettes (Conway, Ingraham, Coulter) who have all gotten very wealthy by being blonde female firebreathers.

Kathleen made the fatal mistake of deciding that the Palin gambit was a bad idea, which resulted in permanent banishment to the minors. She's making a living, I hope with a halfway clear conscience.

Re: Canary in the Coalmine.

Control swings back and forth with just about every president, so you would under normal circumstances expect it.  But since these aren't normal circumstances expect it more so.  I've never seen as much raw hatred directed at anyone the way it is directed at trump.

It would really be an interesting study in group psychosis the way these people have lost all moorings.

Re: Canary in the Coalmine.

Just read a noted commentator/political observer saying that if we had a Congress dominated by conservatives just like Lamb we’d have higher taxes on the rich, universal health care and a reinvigorated union movement.

I could live with that. Minnesota remains in the top end of lists on good places to live, has the lowest level of personal debt in the Nation and a number of other good things going for it because of our legacy of conservatives like Lamb being the soul of the Republican Party here.

That’s, however slipping into malignant Trumpism. Crazy.

Re: Canary in the Coalmine.

that probably ranks up there as one of your posts I would disagree with the most.

The population of Minnesota, their heritage and experience is what accounts for the levels of debt, and the government is what resulted from the makeup of the people here,  not the other way around.

Minnesotans have been pretty resourceful and thrifty by nature, and to imply that elected officials have made the people what they are is something only a big government guy could come up with.

Re: Canary in the Coalmine.

bs, you need to get with the program, my friend and face the real facts the Republicans, don't know how to govern! Sure the people of MN. are a thrifty bunch of people but it was Democrat governance that is the key! Time to wake up from the Republican stupor, my friend!
