Cars should be illegal, or something

http://fusion.net/story/207965/driving-should-be-illegal/

Story doesn't even touch on the pollution that kills thousands each year from cars or the brain damage they cause from that pollution.

Cars are basically mass murder weapons.

Evidently they haven't heard of the tier 4 engine.

Key to stopping rape crimes

Since the penis is responsible for virtually all rapes, there should be a government sanctioned removal of all penises and then rape would virtually be eliminated.

Makes about as much sense as the gun confiscation plans of Hillary, etal.

And don't laugh...there may come a day when most are made into eunuchs.

It is getting almost that ridiculous, Red. I see now the Libs are all concerned about men with big biceps...I just can`t win with these liberals, they`ll never let me in their club with my 18" biceps  Smiley Very Happy

I know you guys can't resist making fun of everything you disagree with but can you tell me how many cars in comparison with guns have been deliberately used to kill people???

Re: Cars should be illegal, or something

There aren`t many 1st degree murder homicide with a car as a weapon for alot of reasons like the victim could just jump out of the way and behind a tree.  But auto fatalities kill just like anything else and there are laws supposedly to make cars safer like laws against drunk driving or texting while driving but still people break those laws and get into wrecks anyway.

Re: Cars should be illegal, or something

Just to be clear, the majority of gun deaths in America are suicide not homicide.

"gun homicides have declined sharply in recent years, suicides have become a greater share of all firearm deaths: the 61% share in 2010 was the highest on record. That year there were 19,392 suicides by firearm"

And police shootings have been running about 3 per day.  All told being killed by a gun held by somebody else is a pretty remote possibility.  The exception is if you are black, the homicide rate for black Americans is 4 times the rate for white Americans and 93% of those homicides were committed by black Americans.

"• Of the 6,309 black homicide victims in the United States, 5,452 were male, 854 were female, and 3 were of unknown gender.

• The homicide rate for black male victims was 31.67 per 100,000. In comparison, the overall homicide rate for male victims was 7.13 per 100,000. For white male victims, the homicide rate was 3.85 per 100,000."

"Number of vehicular homicides annually: 300

Number of suicides committed with cars annually: approximately 20,000 (mostly through carbon monoxide poisoning)

Number of accidental vehicle deaths annually: approximately 30,000"

It's asinine to say cars aren't a problem because they aren't purposely killing people.  The people killed are still dead, the people left are still suffering and society has often lost valuable individuals.  The end result remains the same, how is irrelevant.  Both objects have benefits for society and we accept the losses to maintain those benefits.

Re: Cars should be illegal, or something

What is asinine is you guys trying to compare guns to cars or penises. Sure people do stupid things while driving and when they get caught, they are penalized. I don't know but can't remember any time joe blow has been penalized because he left his loaded handgun unsecured and his 5 yr old son shot and killed his 3 yr old sister. Your guns are not going to be taken unless you guys continue to allow the NRA to speak for all of you. They are responsible for the great swelling of sentiment AGAINST guns. More than Pelosi, Reid and Obama ever thought about. Yesterday 11 yr old shot 8 yr old neighbor with a shotgun because she wouldn't let him see her puppy!!! His father should be charged with murder because he didn't secure the shotgun!!!

Cars

Consider: You have to get a provisional license and take a test to get a driver's license. Most of the rules of the road are posted for everyone to see on the highways. Every 10 years, you have to at least pass an eye exam to get your license renewed. If you break the rules/regulations too many times or get drunk and do something rash with your car, you get your license taken away and can even get arrested. You are required to carry insurance on your vehicle. You pay property taxes on your vehicle, register it, have it identified with tags and do this all annually. You can buy one from anyone, no permit or license to sell or buy required, but then you have to register it, assess it, license it and insure it before you can legally drive it. Most people lock their doors and have a key to their vehicle, many with security systems.

How is that like a firearm?

This is the problem with metaphors rather than directly taking on an issue.

All of those laws and yet people still commit crimes with a car. The time has come to ban all cars. It's for the safety of the children.
