Charlie Sykes
Can't recall if anyone posted this at the time. The mea culpa of a long time RW radio talker.
About as spot on as anyone can be. For anyone who is interested but I'm not going to waste any of my day arguing with crazy people.
https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/15/opinion/sunday/charlie-sykes-on-where-the-right-went-wrong.html
"One staple of every radio talk show was, of course, the bias of the mainstream media. This was, indeed, a target-rich environment. But as we learned this year, we had succeeded in persuading our audiences to ignore and discount any information from the mainstream media. Over time, we’d succeeded in delegitimizing the media altogether — all the normal guideposts were down, the referees discredited.
That left a void that we conservatives failed to fill. For years, we ignored the birthers, the racists, the truthers and other conspiracy theorists who indulged fantasies of Mr. Obama’s secret Muslim plot to subvert Christendom, or who peddled baseless tales of Mrs. Clinton’s murder victims. Rather than confront the purveyors of such disinformation, we changed the channel because, after all, they were our allies, whose quirks could be allowed or at least ignored.
We destroyed our own immunity to fake news, while empowering the worst and most reckless voices on the right."

Re: Charlie Sykes
The media ruined their own credibility, now i know you are on the same side as the media so it`s difficult or maybe impossible for you to see the media`s leftwing bias. They gave Obama a 8 year pass and free infomercial, well now we`re seeing the backlash..I thought there always would be a backlash, I`m just surprised that demographically there was still enough to effect a national election.
The media is about cherrypicking the news they report whether it`s not publicizing the photo of a black guy that holds up a liquor store, while a crime that the prepetrator is white, highly publicizing that fact very well and having many photos of the white criminal. It`s to the point where if the criminal`s photo isn`t shown you can bet that "Tyrone" is a black guy.
All that has been going on for years and the way opinions are formed comes from washed information, well the media no longer has that lock on opinions and they are obviously frustrated. If you`re in that brain-dead liberal camp, I wouldn`t overly worry about this temprary Trump blip, demographics favor things getting back to your "normal" in the proceding elections.

Re: Charlie Sykes
Thank you Bruce, but if the never Trumpers think that "Breitbart convinced white guys with a grease rag in their pocket and a Dickies blue shirt with Bob embroidered that Hillary was running a pedephile ring out of a pizza place and that`s why we endorsed the kitty grabbing Trump" ...no that`s very conceded and misses any lessons that may be learned by you guys.
Globalism doesn`t work for Bob and his grease rag, and there is no defense of it, a simple farm boy like me can destroy any globalist arguement. But if you have a job that is a "license to steal" and want to see the country that you grew up in turn into a "Coke commercial" then your OPINION is backed up by the media and status quo, they will enable your OPINION and make you feel smart and loved. Except other than a sheer consensus of numbers of the same OPINION, it has nothing else backing it up. I know it must feel great to have 3 million more people in the country concur with your OPINION, but that alone doesn`t make it right.

Re: Charlie Sykes
Its funny how the msm is causing people without critical thinking skills (who might that be?) to go absolutely batty. Take for instance two stories from last week. One had the headline (paraphrasing) "Trump threatens to invade Mexico", The fruits and nuts freak out. But if you actually read the story it was according to an anonymous source and the people actually involved in the conversation, representatives of the Mexican government, people who are actually named said it didn't happen. Almost the exact same deal with the PM of Australian, who said the outrage the press claimed didn't happen. So why would a person read those stories and not have a cautious attitude? Because they want to believe.
The msm destroyed their own credibility, yet people still hang on the stuff as if its fact.

Re: Charlie Sykes
You got that corrective information where?
The so-called President essentially admitted to the accuracy of those reports this morning.
Said it was "leaked", but said nothing to conflict with the accuracy of the information.
He's starting to look like an rank amateur. A kid practicing for a Super Bowl half time show on down the road in front of a mirror.
